I am running windows 7 and I would like to know how to install an old version of printmaster silver 10 on windows 7

Printmaster 16 Platinum is an older program and is compatible with XP and older versions of Windows.

First check which version of Windows 7 that you have. Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If your version title ends with x64, you will need to use an option that lets you run an older version of Windows. If you do not see x64 in the title, then the compatibility mode might work.

For the 32-bit OS, right click on the installer and choose Properties. In the Compatibility tab, check the box for always run in the compatibility mode and select an older version of Windows. Apply the changes and click OK. Then right click again and choose Run as Administrator. You may need to repeat this to run the software as well. This is not guaranteed to work in Windows 7 32-bit.

The alternative is to run an older version of Windows. This could be on a second computer, a dual boot computer or a virtual computer (if your hardware supports the feature). Most of these methods require licensed version of the older Windows OS. If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate or upgrade to them, you can run a virtual XP OS for free. Download Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Then install the Printmaster program in XP as if this is the only OS. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.)

This can help with some (but not all) programs/drivers:
1) Uninstall the program if it's already installed. Then when you install/reinstall it instead of double clicking on the install file right click it and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility"
2) Then click "Try Recommended Settings" and in the next window click "Start the Program" to install it.
3) After it installs see if it works correctly. Please note - some programs may not be able to run in Windows 7.

The only solution with this older software that will work is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. You can buy a new version here, But as far i can see in the system requirements they do not mention windows vista, so I do not know if it will run under vista??
