Can't get light bulb out of oven to replace it

Not sure which way to turn cover to get to light bulb?

  • crivard Jan 26, 2009

The cover over the bulb will not break free. I tried turning it to the left. It just spins on the silver plate (or gasket if thats what it is underneath the whole housing). Should i try spraying around it with oven cleaner or heating the oven to get it ti expand?I cant think of any other ideas besides knocking it loose with a rubber hammer and I dont want to break my oven. Facing the head of the bulb...away from the base...turn it counterclockwise....that is..to the left. If you like, use a rubber glove to protect your hands in case it shatters. Use a slight jerking motion to break it free.

Replace light in KEMC378KSS microwave

The oven lights are 12-volt, 5-watt maximum halogen bulbs. They
will come on when the oven door is opened. On double oven
models, both upper and lower lights will come on when either
door is opened. The oven lights will not work during the Self-
Cleaning cycle. When the oven door is closed, press OVEN
LIGHT to turn them on or off.
To Replace:
Before replacing, make sure the oven is off and cool.
1. Disconnect power.
2. Remove glass light cover by grasping the front edge and
pulling away from oven

How to change oven light

Which model Whirlpool range do you have? For most Whirlpool ranges that I have used , the oven light is covered by a screw-on glass cover. When the oven is cool, unplug the range, open the door and turn the cover counter-clockwise (to the left). Then remove the 40W bulb (again counter-clockwise rotation). Replace the bulb with another 40W appliance bulb. Then replace the cover by turning it clockwise until it is tight. Do not over-tighten either the bulb or the cover. Then plug in the power cord for the range. (Unplugging the unit makes sure that you will not get shocked if anything goes wrong. Sometimes the bulb may break in the socket - in that case, use pliers to unscrew the base of the bulb before replacing it with a new bulb.)

Whirlpool has the manuals for most of their appliances on their support site: https://www.whirlpool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchView?catalogId=10561&langId=-1&storeId=10211&krypto=5QgxQhneFliXuEuX564wSQ%3D%3D&ddkey=http:OCManualsLiteratureSearchView .

I hope this helps.

It "popped" a circuit breaker

NORMALLY THERE ARE SCREWS TO REMOVE TO ACCESS A PANEL TO REMOVE THE LIGHT BULB. IF THERE ARE NOT, THEN THE EXTERIOR COVER MAY NEED TO BE REMOVED TO ACCESS THE LIGHT BULB. THIS EXTERIOR COVER HAS SCREWS.
MAKE SURE YOUR CIRCUIT BREAKER IS OFF BEFORE YOU TRY TO REPLACE THE BULB.

Can't get the glas cover off the interior bulb

If you cannot remove cover with normal finger force, then spray with WD40, and grip cover with a pair of vice grips with a cloth wrapped around the jaws, and try turning it that way.
If it will still not come off, then your only option is to break it, and replace bulb, but make sure you can get a replacement cover first.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

How to replace oven light bulb for beko DC543 electric cooker

hi
You may need to remove the glass cover by turning it anti-clockwise.
On some models access to the bulb is from outside so the oven has to be slid out of it's housing and an access plate removed.

chek this following steps..
Step 1 Make sure the bulb is actually burned out. Confirm the oven is plugged in and that a circuit breaker is not tripped.
  • Step 2 Look for the manual to determine what size bulb is required. Most use a 40 watt appliance bulb. If you can not find the manual, then buy a bulb to replace it after you take out the old one.
  • Step 3 Confirm that the oven is not on. Allow it to cool to room temperature if it has recently been used.
  • Step 4 Open the door and use a flashlight to light the area where the bulb is located. Do not put weight on the door itself, but go in at an angle or sideways.
  • Step 5 Find the shield or cover over the bulb, gently pull or twist it off. Some glass covers are surrounded by a wire clip or a ring that is screwed in to the back.
  • Step 6 Gently remove either the wire clip or ring. Since the cover is most likely glass, be cautious. Unscrew the entire glass cover similar to a jar lid in older versions of ovens. Then repeat process if there is more than one bulb.
