Frozen zune i turned on my zune and it loaded up but now nothing is happening. its just on the opening screen where it has the zune logo. i tried locking and unlocking it. i tried plugging it into my computer. i tried pressing the back and up buttons. nothing is working. what should i do?

    Well... my zune is stucka at the "Zune screen" And cannot reboot! No button combinations seem to have any effect :( Dissapointed... I was so satisfied with my zune 30 until now

    Same for me.
    I've tried resetting it, opening it up and unplugging the battery for about 10 seconds, and 5 minutes.
    And all of a sudden it worked for exactly 5 seconds, then went back to what everyone else is having a problem with. I'm getting really pissed off.

    i have done all of these things, and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, and i am still having no response. grrrr.

Try reformatting it then reinstall the zune formware that might fix the issue.

Let it on and completely drain the power, then try it. Make sure your lock key is not locked either. (at the top of Zune Device)

Zune wont load
This is how this problem should be resolved:

  1. Disconnect your Zune from USB and AC power sources.
  2. Because the player is frozen, its battery will drain—this is good. Wait until the battery is empty and the screen goes black. If the battery was fully charged, this might take a couple of hours.
  3. Wait until after noon GMT on January 1, 2009 (that's 7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time).
  4. Connect your Zune to either a USB port on the back or your computer or to AC power using the Zune AC Adapter and let it charge.
I cannot believe the savvy programmers for Zune did not identify this problem in advance

My Zune 30GB is frozen on the start up thing!
Disassemble and disconnect the battery for about 10 seconds. All Zune 30's apparently siezed this AM. MS is working on their solution, not sure when it will come out. The battery disconnect is at least a temp fix. Mine works fine after doing it.

Frozen screen
Got it working again. Disassemble and disconnect the batery for about 10 seconds. This worked to resent mine and it's working again. Not sure if it's permanent, but working for now.

There is a problem with these known as the Zune 30's y2k9 bug. If you call they will fix the problem for you for free. Call 1-877-438-9863 for zune technical support.
