Dishwasher soap cup lid will not open during a wash cycle

I have a Maytag Quite Series 300 and the soap cup lid does not open during a wash cycle. Can open manually.

Washer is leaking water out from underneath during cycle

Ours had a problem with water sloshing out of the soap cup during the cycle. The leak appeared under the left front. The fix was to remove the cup and just pour the soap into that section of the drawer. The only problem withthis is that you cannot add soap after you add the soap.
