I have TomTom XL. When I first connected the XL to my computer (MacOSX), it claimed a few useful updates. I agreed.
At the end of the update cycle, TomTomHome asked me to execute 3 steps to complete the update (disconnect, reconnect, "say yes to the question asked"). This seems to be an ever recurring loop.
TomTomHome uses terminology for these steps that is unclear and ambiguous to me (sorry folks, the computer talks German, no point in repeating this here).
Ever since then, the XL shows a blinking red circle with white cross.
The application seems to be on the XL; TomTomHome claims an up-to-date map on the XL.
TomTom service sent me what appears to a copy-and-paste answer. It did not help one bit.
...any suggestions?

I deleted the stuff and reinstalled it.. it worked!!!!!

same thing goin on on my mac.
it said to delete the stuff i just downloaded then try again...
maybe find a windows computer to try to update it on? thats what im going to try to do now
