My Thermador stove has four burners Two (on the left-hand side as you are facing the stove--the ones that have the terrible 'simmer feature in which the stove goes out and then relights itself every few seconds) will not light. There is gas flow (when burner caps are removed), but I cannot even light the burners manually. I have been struggling with this for two months, and no one can even figure out what part is the issue. Thermador and associated parts dealers have been terminally unhelpful. Any thoughts appreciated.

SOURCE: Some Burners Will Not Ignite
probably a worn wire to the electrode or a cracked ignitor. you are faced with taking off the hobtop and looking - no easy solution. you should not do this unless you are confident and don't interupt the gas path

I would take out the pilot and clean it up and see what happens, also look behind the unit and see if theres a gas regulator on the gas line,if so you will see a nut on it take it off with a pair of pliers and clean as well.that valve is actually the saftey valve, when the pilot lights the flame impinges on the thermocouple and that sends a millivolt back to that valve in order to open.if none of these resolve your problem i would replace the thermocouple first as this is a cheap part and easy to put on.if you need a part # i can give it to you.let me know.

SOURCE: Electric spark for gas range burner is non stop
Turning any knob starts the spark via a switch behind each which should disengage when the (any) knob is turn further.
One of your switches is stuck.
I think you should be able to remove the range-top for access and find the offending switch.
It is probably gummy from a spill and is no longer in solid contact with the cam that operates it.
A solvent/lubricant such as WD-40 sprayed on the plunger of the switch once you can see it and operating the knob back and forth should free it up.
It might be wise to turn off the gas supply while tinkering with the range - blow your house away and the range won't matter. :-(

th to replaceere is also an electronic ignitor in the back of the stove that sends the spark to the burners, if they light with a match , then I would check out the back for a little black box

Well looking at your screen name I recommend taking it to work. That aside there is a seperate spark module on those simmer burners and they have had many problems with them. I assume you are saying that the ignitor has failed. There is a feed back in the ignotor that tells the module that there is flame. If the module fails on some models you cannot light manually. There was a kit that replaced the switches, and module a while ago it may still be available. If you have the model and serial number I could be more help.
