You need to check that the 12V power supply is still active when the ignition key is removed. The ignition switch could be faulty and may need replacing.
There is a switch relay that plugs behine the ignition switch cylinder.You would have to take apart the dash console to take it apart to replace it.Also helps solve a few problem on the 2001 chevrolet impala, with heat gauage not working and a/c not blowing cold air anymore.Replacing it, should fix the problem with that.
The problem is caused from a grounding problem. You need to look around your car for a ground wire that has come undone or hasnt been put back on (normaly black). If it happens when you crank check for ground problems around the starter and around the ignition coil and ignition switch. Has anyone done any work lately? If so look for a ground wire off where they were working.
