Hello Oran - Typically error code F7 on Frigidaire freezer indicates that the unit has detected a stuck key or fail safe mode initiated. Check if it has a thermistor failure and may possibly need to replace the main control board. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

SOURCE: Freezer Not Cooling

Sounds like the low pressure cutout switch is stopping your compressor running, especially if the "5 seconds" you mention are exactly the same length each time. Not enough refrigerant would be the usual cause, but the reason for the refrigerant loss is harder to tie down - possibly a seal or a loose valve seat or even a pinhole in a copper tube. Best solution now would be to get a refrigerator mechanic to top it up and check for leaks - get a quote first to check - 'fridge gas is getting costly. Other possible solution is that the low pressure switch itself is faulty, relatively inexpensive to replace (but unfortunately you will need at least a partial gas recharge on most types of system after) - your fridge gas guy will be able to check very easily if there is adequate gas in the system, and should check this low pressure switch if there is not. Usually this is fixable many times, just check the cost first. Hope this helps :)

SOURCE: freezer door is accumulating frost inside it at

The gasket is not sealing correctly and is allowing warm air to meet cold air just below the seal.

Get someone with more skill to fit a new gasket , preferably one made by the original manufacturer , which should fit unlike some of the parts made by third party suppliers

SOURCE: I have 16.7 upright Frigidaire Ultrafreeze

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

SOURCE: Door alarm light is on

The open door alarm is triggered by the small switch that also triggers the internal lighting. This is easy to test: open the door and press the switch - on a normal one the light should go off.
This is the switch

Freezer cools fine but will not shut off till I open door

Running all the time means you either have to clear/clean your condenser... Check for good tight door seals... and make sure the doors/vents are not blocked by any contents...

Free flowing cold dry air inside... sealed compartments is ideal.

Dollar Pull test:
Use the dollar bill pull test all round your doors...
(brown paper sack is cleaner & nicer):

You can take the paper...
close the door on it..
Pulling it out you should feel mild but constant pressure around the full perimeter of each door (or drawer).

If you do NOT feel it the door/drawer needs to be checked for gasket integrity... and the door may need to be adjusted.

New door gaskets are not terribly expensive
(but most issues are caused by spilled food, cleaning
or door adjustments = easy).

(FULLY covered in every owners manual I've read).

Consider purchasing 2 TAYLOR BRAND refrigerator
thermometer & turning the freezer to the ZERO Fahrenheit
area and the refrigerator to 33 or 34 degrees above zero
(32 degrees Fahrenheit... being frozen eggs & milk (too cold)).

Else... comment me back...

We can take this all the way into refrigerant level check if you find NOTHING ELSE WRONG

((HIGHLY IMPROBABLE... but do-able)).

You gasket is showing as no longer
available... at appliancepartspros.com...

So be gentle!!!

My Fridgidaire upright Gallery freezer is freezing my food but the appliance seems to be constantly running and the temperature control on the outside is reading 29 Celsius when it obviously isn't

Hi Susan Abboud - Modern freezers have increased storage capacity and keep more even temperature that may require the compressors to run longer but use less energy. Was the unit disconnected previously for any reason? If so, freezer requires a minimum of 4 hours to cold down completely. Confirm that the temperature control is not set too cold and that the door is not being open frequently. A dirty, cracked, worn or poorly fitted door gasket can allow warm air to enter the unit causing it to have to run longer to remove the warm air. Leaks in the door seal will cause freezer to run longer in order to maintain desired temperature. Cleaned the gasket, if it is too damage then it will need to be replace. You can check and see if the door seal is bad by, placing a dollar between the gasket and cabinet. Check to see if the door is being blocked by anything stopping it from closing properly. If nothing is stopping the door then replace gasket. Keep in mind that there should also be at least 4-6 in of air space on all sides of the unit. If freezer is built in or has items stored on top that cover the unit, the can cause long run times, high temperature in the freezer and premature failure to the unit. Do not block the toe grille on the lower front of the unit. Sufficient air circulation is essential for the properly operation of your freezer, about 3 inches around the unit.

This sounds like your motherboard, computer or control board(they call it different things in different models) is bad. It is responsible for the fan speed and timing of the defrost cycle. To locate your timer, motherboard, control or adaptive defrost control , enter your model number and search for the part or post back on Fixya.

My Kenmore freezer, model #253.9280212 runs but will not cool below 40 degrees. It runs all the time but I do not hear anything cut on and off. The freezer is 10 years old but looks brand new.

The first thing to check is door gasket< bad corners, gap in side, bottom or top. Close door on a dollar bill and try to slide it top to bottom side to side and if it slides fairly easy then seal is not doing good. If you find dirty area clean it off along with the cabinet side as well.If you find the side is leaking then heat gasket with hair dryer and apply vasoline to gasket to help it move freely. If you find tear or hole then replace it.

Running continuously

Hello bxrjer,
Welcome,

You said, you have a FFU20FC6AW2 freezer that I have noticed is running continuously. Explains my $400 electric bill.

How old is the freezer?

The thermostat may be faulty.
But check out this list first.

If the black tubes running back and forth that carry the freon is under the freezer and behind the plastic grill down near the floor you may want to remove the grill cover and gently run a refrigerator brush across the coils. Ive seen them never cleaned and full of lint and dust 2 inches thick.
This is not good for the freezer or any refrigerator too!
They need to be clean so air can run across them or they over heat and get hot.
Room or outside weather is hot. It is normal for the freezer to work harder under these
conditions.

Reasons why Freezer may run too much or too long.

1.Freezer had recently been disconnected for a period of time. Freezer requires 4 hours to cool
down completely.
2.Large amounts of warm or hot food have been stored recently. Warm food will cause the
freezer to run more until the desired temperature is reached.
3.Door is kept open too long or too frequently. Warm air enters the freezer every time the door
is opened. Open the door less often.

4.Freezer door may be slightly open. (Freezer is not level. It rocks on the floor when it is moved slightly. This condition can force the cabinet out of square and misaligned the door.Freezer needs to be leveled if this occurs.
Floor is uneven or weak. Freezer rocks on the floor when it is moved slightly. Level the floor by using metal or wood shims under the freezer or brace floor supporting the freezer.

5.Temperature control is set too cold. Turn the control knob to a warmer setting. Allow several
hours for the temperature to stabilize.
6.Freezer gasket is dirty, worn, cracked, or poorly fitted. Clean or change gasket. Leaks in the
door seal will cause freezer to run longer in order to maintain desired temperature.

Freezer runs all the time

I don't have enough information. Use a freezer thermometer and check the temp. If below 0 probably a bad thermostat. Sides getting hot is normal. Thats how it gets rid of the heat from inside. In the summer a freezer can run over 80% of the time. Again this is normal. Another thing to check is the gasket around the door. See if it is worn or torn and is sealing properly. If there are condensor coils under neath clean them check to see if the fan under there is working when compressor is running. (Not all freezers have coils underneath. Some have them in back, Smaller units just use the side of the cabinet.)
