The best option for you would be to purchase a wireless PCI network card.
They are relatively inexpensive and should have a stronger signal over a longer distance than a wireless USB dongle.
Below is a typical wireless network card and it should be freely available from your local PC store



I have included a brief explanation for your convenience:

A PCI wireless adapter card connects to a desktop computer's PCI bus. Because the PCI bus is contained inside the computer, the unit must be opened and the wireless network adapter installed inside.
An example of a PCI wireless adapter card, the Linksys WMP54G is shown above. This unit is more than 8 inches (200 mm) long in order to accommodate the standard connection strip required to electrically join to the bus. The unit attaches and fits snugly inside the PCI, although the wireless adapter card antenna protrudes out the back of the computer

if your useing a G network (the router is a G?) then the adapter will attempt to connect via N you have to tell the adapter to connect via G mode only, it cut the speed in half but it should work.

if you have an N router check to make sure the router will accept an N connection. via the network configuration page. depending on the router that may be at http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.1.255

The PCI adapters are designed to work with the standard PCMCIA slots in laptops. You don't need to worry about voltages. The Linksys wireless adapter will have a driver CD supplied with the wireless card and the installation insructions are straight forward.

This is something to try:

Download drivers for your wireless device from this website. Afterward uninstall your wireless adapter. Then re-install it using the drivers you just downloaded. That should repair the issue(s), if not let me know and we'll take a look at other possibilities.

I hate to say this, but on Dec. 26, 2008, I called Linksys and they said that they don't make a PCI wireless adapter that works with sp3. Mine just rebooted the computer incessantly.

By PCI Filler I Mean The Metal Peice That Screws onto the card that screw it to the case as the Dell OptiPlex GX150

Does it ask for a driver to be installed? Or have you got the wireless version of the mobo that needs an ASUS WiFi-b add-on card with an omni-directional antenna?
