Question about Sony KV-36XBR450 36" TV
When watching TV after several minutes the picture does one of 2 things: 1) gets unstable and wiggles slightly or 2) the top half will freeze, the bottom half will go black. Both symptoms do not have any adverse effect on the audio. Power cycle the TV will solve problem #2, but not #1 most times.
Check the cables going in and out of the tcon board if that doesn't fix it replace that board

This sounds like the HV protection circuit is cutting off the TV due to a high current event in the set. This could be a problem in the High Voltage section of your TV (Horizontal output transistor, Integrated High Voltage Transformer, and y of the deflection components, and or the CRT in cases of shorts).
I would suggest that if you do not have a background in electronics, you should have an experienced TV technician troubleshoot and repair this problem.
This is due to the nature of the dangerous voltages that are present in the television.
