The dial doesnt change the type of stitches and the selector isn't catching- just going round and round. Thanks for any help!

You will need to take the machine in for service.

pull the button hole lever all the way down, then push it all the way back up. Select your pattern and it should work.

I actually figured it out......I was threading the needle from back to front, instaed of front to back. I am so happy I got it figured out but thank you anyway....

Lets see if we can do some troubleshooting.
Have you checked your needle (size, for thread your using, material)
It sounds like a tension/settings issue, but could be as simple as poor thread quality. try changing the thread, and rewinding the bobbin. If using a silky material remember you need to back that up and make it stiff.
If this and a resetting of tension doesnt work,
Check your left side right side balance (pg 57)
Check page 84 on trouble shooting
