I wouldn't advise trying to fix it and it's not dangerous. When heating food it causes condensation on the inside of the oven which pools at the bottom and causes rust and paint peel.

SOURCE: peeling paint

You need to thoroughly clean it, then sand it smooth to removew all the loose paint.

Once it's squeaky clean and dry, you can apply high-temperature appliance paint, which is available in brush-on or spray-on form at big box stores like Wal-Mart, home improvement centers like Lowe's and appliance parts stores.

SOURCE: paint peeling inside microwave

If the unit has been operating properly for some time with no issues, I would say it is fine to continue to use. The issue I would have would be with the possibility with the paint falling into the food.

It would be interesting for you to call the manufacturers' support line and ask why this is happening. Maybe they will offer you a replacement if it was a manufacturing process defect. Mention that the paint may have fallen into the food.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

SOURCE: inside finish is peeling off

No, if the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Otherwise, you can have rust and arcing, which can be messy.

SOURCE: paint inside microwave oven bottom is peeling

The oven cavity will probably start to rust where the paint is gone. If you're up to it, sand it and paint it with a color that matches the interior color. Other then colors, there is nothing special about paint inside a microwave.

Yes it is a certain danger, DO NOT USE your microwave until this has been repaired. You should be able to get specialist paint and kit from your local hardware store. Here's a handy kit I found online:

The metal is showing inside. The white coating is pealing. Is this dangerous?

The peeling of the white coating inside of the microwave oven is dangerous in terms of creating a fire hazard and potentially contaminating the food you cook within it. This can be prevented by cleaning up all splatters and spills immediately before using the microwave oven again. You can fix the peeling by replacing the microwave oven or repairing it. To repair it, you will have to remove the peeling coating and then repaint the interior of the microwave with paint that is designed for microwaves in general. Though, if you do this, you will have to let the paint dry up for at least 24 hours. I hope this helps you!

The paint is peeling inside the microwave, is this dangerous?

Yes it is! if this goes unchecked the magnetron will arc where bare metal is exposed and eventually it will short out destroying a very expensive part.

Paint peeling

The paint you need is called microwave cavity paint. If they don't have it at your local hardware store, you may get it at www.appliance411.com/data.php?rc=277

Be sure to sand the area first with some emory cloth to remove any loose paint flakes.

Paint damaged in side microwave oven

1) How is the cavity damaged? Is it just peeling paint, or is it rust? If it's rust then the microwave could be dangerous.

2) The antenna cap usually has a small hole in the centre, but if there are any other holes in it the magnetron itself could be damaged, and holes caused by the magnetrin arcing.

Peeling paint

The only real danger is if it continues, it can deteriorate the metal, allowing sparking and possible leakage.

It's a good idea to clean, sand, clean again and repaint the area.

High temperature appliance paint is available form stores like Lowe's and Wal-Mart.
