The main tray of this printer is broken. we have been using the bypass tray fine until today. I was printing several documents and then in the middle of the print job there was a grinding type sound and a paper jam. I cleared the jam and it seemed fine and then a couple of sheets later said there was still a jam, which there was not. Sometimes it will print if I stand at the printer lightly pressing the paper until it feeds and I have to do each sheet individually. Other times it makes the grinding sound and refuses to print. I do not see any loose parts or broken pieces. Thanks!
If you can take off the bypass unit, two screws and a harness, you may be able to check the shaft, bushings and rollers. Sometimes removing jammed paper cause parts to get out of normal position. The grinding noise for example, gears not meshing together correctly. If it worked before the jam, then that is where I would look.

My machine had the same problem. A service tech looked at my machine and pulled out the OPC Belt Drum Unit. The drum unit had a few issues: 1) jagged rips in it, something caused by running papers through that had staples or paperclips in them. So when the drum turns, it scrapes other parts and the machine sounds like its going to drop all its nuts and bolts--at least mine did!)! and 2) the spindles from the OPC unit has come loosened and fell off. The spindles and plastic cogs were found way at the bottom of the OPC Drum slot. This too was thought to have added to the rips in the drum.
I replaced the drum ($399 was the cheapest I could find) and the problem went away.
An expensive repair but for me it worked...

you need to go into the print menu on the printer and change the paper tray size back to letter, when you have it right there will be an asterik next to letter confirming that it was programmed

these settings need to be done with the RPCS printer driver, go to properties and then custom settings from there you can tell the printer where to print from.

This is happening to me also. The rollers sound like they're turning, but the paper doesn't advance. I then go into th emachine and spin the roller cam a bit and it seems to clear the problem. Any idea what's happening?
