Usually you have a shortcut key by pressing the Fn key with the touchpad key. It is marked on the keyboard as two touchpads. One is crossed by a bar.

Touch pad sony viao vpceb3j1e not working

Hey there. Often times this is a problem caused by accidentally turning it off. Look for a button on your keyboard or near the touch pad to turn the touch pad on/off. If you're using windows 7 and possible below, you won't need drivers to get the touch pad to work normally.

My touch pad is not working. There is an orange light on it.

I am really sorry to hear that your touch pad is not working. You mentioned that you see an orange light on it, where did you see it? is it on the top of your touch pad? if it's just on the top of your touch pad, all you have to do is just press the button right beside the orange light. Because the touch pad is being disable indicating the orange light, when you press the button you will see a blue light indicating that you enable the touch pad.

Thanks.

THE TOUCHPAD MOUSE JUST QUITE WORKING DOES IT NEED REPLACE AND IS IT SEPARATE FRON THE KEYBOARD

It is hard to tell if the touch-pad needs replacing from the information you gave. However, I can tell you that the touch-pad is NOT part of the keyboard.

There are several things the can cause the touch-pad not to work. 1) It may have been turned off in the BIOS. 2) It may have been turned off by the operating system software or 3) You may have installed a usb mouse which in some cases will override the touch-pad. 4) The touch-pad may have a bad connection into the motherboard or into the touch-pad circuits.

I wouldn't go replacing the pad until I had tried all the other possible areas because this requires a complete screw removal from the bottom, removing the display and keyboard. Then removal of the upper case of the laptop. I do this as a last resort.

My toshiba satellite A355D touch pad is not working. my husband told me that probably my kid turned it off. if that is the case... how can i turn it on?

Sounds like your touch pad may need to be replaced. You can't really turn off the touch pad.Even if your child managed to uninstall the touch pad it would load back the drivers at next startup.Chances are the touch pad will have to be replaced. Its possible the touch pad may be disconnected from the motherboard but not very likely though.

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

I am receiving the same error message on the display window

Defective touch pad or clock (ERC) Replace touch pad or clock (ERC). Touch pad is a more common problem. Refer to F1 test at the top of this page for more information.

Function key shorted or stuck :
Replace touch pad or if touch pad is part of the clock, replace the clock (ERC).

F1 touch pad / ERC test This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

Touchpad

This may be a simple driver glitch. Try uninstalling the touch pad drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. The touch pad either works or it doesn't, there's no in between, so if this doesn't work, then I'm afraid you'll have to replace the touch pad.
