2nd computer will not print to the Brothers printer

I have a Brothers network printer (MFC-6490CW). I have a laptop and a PC. The PC will print to the printer. The laptop will not(but when I turn it off and then back on the document will print from the printer).

Presuming both computers connect to the printer through the network ( the printer is not plugged directly into either ) you probably just need to remove and reinstall the Brother drivers making sure you select Network Printer. Brother drivers are usually pretty good.
Some routers stumble on the extremely long device name your Brother gives himself. You may need to access the printer through your browser and change his name to something shorter than 10 characters. Believe it or not, I've seen it help.

You have 2 printers because it was inadvertently installed twice. You need to un-install both of them and reinstall the printer again.

Have you got the latest drivers from the manufactures website and have you tried it with another computer. It may also be a problem with windows. Have you got all the latest updates and service packs.

Simply re-set up the Networked printer again, Via the Ethernet cable, if it has one, else, ...Connect up to the printer from one PC, reinstall the drivers, and then from a "Client" set up the Install printer, and select Networked printer.make sure Printer is "Shared" and all PC's have a name, a password, and all part of the same workgroup. Sharing is enabled on all PC's When all setup make sure DHCP is set to off. START >>>RUN>>>services.msc enter. Scroll down to DHCP, and set to OFF & Disabled.

try to clean heads with printer menu or on computer in printer driver (software)

Where does the paper go on a Brother MFC 6490CW?

theres a menu button on the wireless printer..go to network and set the configuration from there if your using wireless just set the configuration to the existing wireless device you have and thats it...instant wireless printer connection...also check the manual..hope this helps...

Black ink will not print (new out of box).

If cleaning doesn't work you should talk to your retailer or Brothers support. Don't think they can expect you to use up all ink cleaning cartridges when the machine is straight out of the box..
