i cant find a reset button on the motor ,but the motor was very hot

there is 1/2 inch copper tube from the motor to the tank up front then there is a black plastic 1/4 tube running from the tank back to the on -off switch underneath the motor frame.the black tube is loose at the tank and it appears to be a 2 piece union it moves by wrench very easy both ways im still lost

SWITCH MAKES A CLICKING SOUND AND COMPRESSOR RUNS ABOUT 2-3 MINS THEN OVER HEATS AND SHUTS OFF

  • rwaldmann1 Dec 30, 2008

Yes it is an oil less compressor, this air comp is only 2 years old ,less than15 hrs. I did tighten up the 4 head bolts maybe a half turn each.do you know what the black plastic tube is for?, it seems to be in a pressure place at the tank but is very loose and made of plastic

My compressor will not build up pressure beyond about 40 Lbs. The motor keeps running, but the pressure will not build up.

Check the reset button on the motor to see if it tripped. The motor may be overheating. Some motors have an internal breaker and they have to cool off before they restart. Also check the pressure switch. Move the switch back and forth ( on and off ) and listen for a click. If it doesn't click with low to no air pressure then the switch is bad.

Did you find out what's wrong? If not I'd be happy to help. Thanks for using FixYa.

Did the on off switch click for you? Does the compressor run at all?

  • Anonymous Dec 30, 2008

Obviously your motor is overheating and tripping the internal breaker. Once the motor cools down it will run again. The most common cause is poor voltage/current supply. But since you are plugging directly into the wall this shouldn't be a problem. Try plugging into a different outlet if you can. Also is this an oiless compressor?

Comperrsor pumps uoto preassure, but when the preasure drops it tries to start . The motor come on but will not turn compressor until preasure drops to about 20 lb. Then it will start and build up to...

Run the compressor until there is about 75 psi in the tank and turn it off at the pressure switch. Remove the black bleeder line from the pressure switch:
1. If absolutely no air comes out of the line you may have a bad start capacitor on the motor. Have it tested at an electrical or refrigeration shop or just replace it to see if it takes care of your problem.
2. If you get a short blast (five or so seconds) of air then nothing your pressure switch isn't letting the head pressure bleed off after the motor shuts off. This pressure has to be relieved or the motor has to fight the tank pressure when it tries to restart. Reconnect the bleed off line and turn the motor back on. If it starts normally, replace the pressure switch. If it struggles or won't start it is more indicative of a bad start capacitor.
3. If you get constant air flow from the bleed line the problem is with your tank check valve. This causes the same problem as above. Replace the check valve.

My husky air compressor model is WJ10064AJ. I got this compressor my brother in law. The compressor runs but the pressure is low. It shut off at 75 psi and 75 lbs on air. I have to shut it off for a while...

All of your problems indicate the pressure switch is bad. I don't know which part number to recommend because Campbell Hausfeld (Husky) model numbers have six digits and there aren't any model numbers or part numbers I can find that start with WJ. You need to contact Campbell Hausfeld (1-800-543-6400) to see what part you have to order to fix your compressor.

Compressor will only build pressure to 75 psi and stop and compressor keeps running what could be wrong

If you can hear air bleeding off through the air filter when you turn it off then the check valve has failed on the compressor discharge to tank line and cannot overcome the tank pressure. If there is no air coming out through the air filter than the intake and dischare valves have become weak or are broken/not seating. Post your findings, I wil see if i can help I worked on compressors for 5+ years

I have an Ingersoll Rand T30 10 HP compressor that runs OK and will bulid up 150 psi without any problems. But when the pressure drops enough to kick the pressure switch, the motor won't start. just tries...

When the compressor comes up to pressure and kicks off, you should normally hear a gasp of air escaping. That gasp is the release of pressure from the compressor itself - not the tank, and it is supposed to get released so that the compressor can restart without being preloaded with compressed air. My guess is that the gasp is not happening. It is probably some debris or a gummy mechanism. The mechanism is supposed to be triggered by the same mechanism that shuts off the motor.

Electric compressor will not start up im getting power thru the switch but comp.doesnt attempt to start.

your pressure switch is defective that controls the cycling of the motor, its fed air pressure off the tank line and opens and closes contacts to start and stop the motor to build air pressure when needed

Have a husky 19 gal 1.5hp it kicks on when first start to work and when it builds up air and i use it and when it wants to kick back on it wont i have to wait till it cools down.

Is there an option for you to run this compressor on 220 volts vs 110 volts??? If so, you may want to convert it by following the re-wire instructions on the motor or wire access plate/instuction book. The reason your compressor won't fire up again after building pressure is the head pressure is to great at restart and 110 household current is not enough to give the power needed to turn the piston. You'll need to replace the plug and have someone run a 220 volt circuit once the conversion is completed.

Husky Wl6510 air compressor, motor shuts off

One other possibility is that the check valve between the compressor and the tank is letting air flow back against the compressor. Is it having trouble restarting when the pressure lowers to the cut-in pressure? If it doesn't want to start up again, sounding like it's starting against pressure, suspect that valve.
