On 1st start pressure builds up to 75 lbs motor stops running and tank will empty with use and wont restart2 nd start after 20 min tank builds up to 100 lbs ,tank will empty again and compressor wont start again.
Check the reset button on the motor to see if it tripped. The motor may be overheating. Some motors have an internal breaker and they have to cool off before they restart. Also check the pressure switch. Move the switch back and forth ( on and off ) and listen for a click. If it doesn't click with low to no air pressure then the switch is bad.
Did you find out what's wrong? If not I'd be happy to help. Thanks for using FixYa.
Did the on off switch click for you? Does the compressor run at all?
Obviously your motor is overheating and tripping the internal breaker. Once the motor cools down it will run again. The most common cause is poor voltage/current supply. But since you are plugging directly into the wall this shouldn't be a problem. Try plugging into a different outlet if you can. Also is this an oiless compressor?
Do you know the Model number?

im plugged into wall outlet direct,be fore the comp would restart when pressure got down ,now it just empties the tank, is there any setting on a restart sensor, should the gauge for the hose be shut off ,im puzzled
Thanks very much
i cant find a reset button on the motor ,but the motor was very hot
there is 1/2 inch copper tube from the motor to the tank up front then there is a black plastic 1/4 tube running from the tank back to the on -off switch underneath the motor frame.the black tube is loose at the tank and it appears to be a 2 piece union it moves by wrench very easy both ways im still lost
SWITCH MAKES A CLICKING SOUND AND COMPRESSOR RUNS ABOUT 2-3 MINS THEN OVER HEATS AND SHUTS OFF
Yes it is an oil less compressor, this air comp is only 2 years old ,less than15 hrs. I did tighten up the 4 head bolts maybe a half turn each.do you know what the black plastic tube is for?, it seems to be in a pressure place at the tank but is very loose and made of plastic
I could not find any model #. i,ll check for it tomorrow
thanks for every thing i,m quitting tonite
Thanks Again
mine only builds up to 40 lbs then kicks off.Plugged into outlet
Are you using an extension cord?
My compressor will not build up pressure beyond about 40 Lbs. The motor keeps running, but the pressure will not build up.
