Humming sound from new TV

A new Toshiba 32av502u flat panel TV is now making a constant humming sound -- it gets drowned out when the volume is turned up but at low volumes you can definitely hear it. Can I do anything to easily fix it? Does the set need to be returned or repaired?

response to clarification--the humming sound is from this new TV's internal speakers. No external speakers have been set up.

Hey, I have had the same problem with my 32av502u. I've also noticed that this isnt a problem with the speakers, its the backlight. The first set i bought turned the picture off but kept sound, the second one i recieved after I returned the first one happened about 2 hours after i set it up. The screen froze kind of like a computer then shut off and the humming was there yet again, this will be my second return and im asking for my money back. Should i call Toshiba and go through all their ****, or just find a different brand?

Are you getting the audio from any external source or is the internal audio that gets the humming noise?

If your TV is new, I would suggest to get fix under manufacturers warranty.

Thank you for the info. I would suggest to take it back from where you bought it from if the store will allow a 90 days return and replace it for a new one, or you can contact Toshiba to get it fixed under warranty. There should not be any humming noise on the speakers.

I have a 32av502u the unit keeps running through all the inputs then makes a popping sound?

OK if you are getting a popping sound from your speakers then it's provably your signal board. IF you are getting a popping sound from one of your parts like the power supply then its provably that part that is bad. You can get parts at www.interliquidparts.com

Volume on my Toshiba TV 32AV502U goes up on its own at random times. Remote brings the volume down but within minutes volume goes up again. Solution??

First off, take the batteries out of your remote to see if it is a problem with your remote, if it is I would buy a new universal remote and try that. If none of this works then the problem is with your tv itself. Either the volume button on the tv is broken and works on its own, or the tv is having programming errors and you will need to have it fixed.

When i turn my television on it shuts off and then turns back on a few times without any picture but sound. we just replaced the bulb but that does not seem to be the problem because it did it again with...

Bulb? LCD tvs do not have a bulb it only has a panel with a backlight sealed into it. Is that what you replaced? The problem though is related to the backlight not coming on. This is due to a faulty backlight inverter board(replacement costs about 50$) which should be replaced to solve this problem.

I have a Toshiba Mod 32AV502U in which I am getting no volume? pls help

You are probably using an HDMI cable. Try using "Component" Cables instead (RED,GREEN,BLUE and WHITE, RED) These cables are still HD but work aound the no sound issue with Toshiba.

Poor sound quality

Hi, I sent an email regarding the issue to OnCorpus (the company who makes ProScan)

This is what I got back:

---------------------------
Thomas,
Follow these steps to correct humming issue:
1. Turn tv on
2. Input mode should be tv
3. Turn volume to zero
4. With remote enter 9 8 7 6
5. A menu will appear on left side
6. Arrow down to backlight and with right arrow key move number from 81 to 83, press menu button twice,
7. Turn up volume and listen if hum is gone.

I can't confirm if this works at this moment since I don't have access to my TV.

I have a Vizio 42' and a cable box and there's a constant humming

I think I had the same problem. This is how I fixed it.

I have my vizio 42 hooked up to a Harmon Kardon surround sound, and the digital cable box. Essentially, I can adjust the volume 3 ways - through the tv, cable box or av receiver. The humming sound happens when you have the volume maxed out on the av receiver and not the cable box.

For example, the sound level on my Harmon Kardon goes from -10 (lowest) to 10 (loudest), with 0 being the middle ground. The buzzing was happening when the Harmon Kardon was set to 10, and I was using the cable box volume to adjust the sound. To fix it, I turned down the volume on my receiver to 0, which may be about 50% max volume of the receiver. Then, I switched devices and used the volume on my cable box. This got rid of the static I was getting. Hope that helps.
