Hi, First of all, your hard drive is what this computer needs to boot up. Try to see if you can POST, that is, only plug in power supply to motherboard with cpu and memory in there. Don't put any hard drive or other device into motherboard as yet. see if it reaches past post. If it does, then plug in hard drive and see if the problem occurs again. If it does, then the problem is the hard drive. But for now try reaching past post with only the bare necessary components for startup. Then let me know what happens.

How do I get home page back after computer reached 100% configuring windows computer is frozen on configuring display

Hi
First try pressing down the power button for up to 10 seconds or until the laptop powers down. Wait a couple of minutes and see if the computer reboots properly. If it does, fine, if not power the laptop down again and again wait a couple of minutes, power on and press F8 whilst it is booting to get a menu up which should say on one of the entries something like "revert to last known good settings" Highlight this option using the keyboard arrow keys (mouse won't usually work here) and pressing return.
This should set your computer back to before the update that is causing the problem.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

How to reset a laptop CY25?

Windows XP, right? Click on start, shutdown and then restart!

Is the laptop frozen? Hold down the power button for about 5-10 seconds until power shuts off. Just press the power on again to get it to start back up. Make sure you can NOT reset soft before cycling power on your laptop because you can lose/corrupt data during a cold boot.

Hope this helps,
Bill

Has there been a power surge meanwhile? If so, try unplugging the power cord, press the power button, reconnect power and try booting. Sometimes works.

I just had the same issue. Press the reset button. After pressing the reset button, plug it into your USB port on your PC. You should see it come back to life and shouldn't have to re-intall the firmware.

Mouse Cursor Frozen

Try putting the computer into safe mode by shutting down the computer. Turn the computer back on. At beginning of the boot process press and hold the f8 button and select safe mode from the menu.

When the safe mode is done booting up, try moving the mouse around. If it works, restart the the computer under normal Windows startup procedures.
