Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, to my understanding, the Astrolon 525X Telescope is marketed in the US as a complete set and I doubt if just a part would be readily available. Offhand, I suspect that it was manufactured in Asia. Perhaps it may be to your advantage to contact the Asian exporter, Nu Look IPI Enterprises Ltd. Although their model number (TS761/TS768) may be different, pls confirm. The Alt-Azimuth Mount for their model is shown below.

Hi, Tissot built the Astrolon telescope, but does not provide parts or support, as the telescope is considered not serviceable due to its low cost.

You can buy a new telescope for $20 including shipping here.

Altitude- Azimuth and Equatorial

You must be more specific as to the type and the mount.

They do not sell parts for these low cost telescopes. However you might find what you need inn the bolt and nut section of a well stocked hardware store.

This brand is sold by Toys R Us--

525 telescope but no instructions

No one will have a manual for this telescope, However here is a picture:
http://www.amazon.com/Elenco-Astrolon-525x-Refractor-Telescope/dp/B0019MYVMQ

This is a very simple refractor on an alt az mount. Sure wish you had NOT bought this "department store" telescope. It will be shaky and has a very small aperture. Read my TIPS on my profile page to find out how to improve a department store telescope.

HOW DO I USE THE TELESCOPE

Hi,

he first thing you will need to know is does your telescope have a polar axis or not, that is, is it intended to track, or is it merely a point and look, or what we call Alt-Az. Alt means altitude and Az means azimuth, where Alt is the distance above the horizon, and Az is the direction in a circle around the horizon. If you have an Alt-Az mount, just skip the polar alignment step. If you have a polar axis, that is, your telescope is intended to track the stars, then find north, and make sure the polar axis is approximately lined up in that direction. It does not have to be too accurate, but make sure it is pointing pretty close to north. If you are not sure where north is, either use a magnetic compass, or try to find Polaris, the North Star.

Thanks.

See my previous comment-- Orion sells telescope mounts -- the problem is most of them are more expensive than your telescope-- most likely.

Missing Altitude Control Locking Knob

Go to any well stocked hardware store and buy a similar bolt-- get stainless steel so it won't rust.
