Dell XP connected through office network.Printer Hp LaserJet 5 si(port standard Ip) We have uninstalled/reinstalled driver.. checked /Print processor (winprint) checked / changed bidirectional support Duplex not intsalled Searched EVERYwhere for an answer. I read an article about microsoft updated netframe 3.0 helping to screw things up. Little more info..Our whole network went down one night blew router, took 3 days to get it up and running again.. Even had a Tech visit.. He reinstalled printer manaully ran test page and all seemed well..( until multiple printing He was gone by then) Help!

Ooops I didn't mean to make it sound like the Tech was there the whole 3 days :-).. Two days I was farting with it..It took so long to get the internet connection going..Not realizing the router died.. He came the third day to work on the printer..I'm telling you everything was out of wack..It was almost like someone else from the outside was digging around in the computer. The Tech also couldn't explain why what happened.. I remember the day before doing updates, we also had a storm that night. Anywho..Any idea's..Just recently, I tried the HP driver check. It stated wrong driver..OK I uninstalled what we had and reinstalled another available one from HP..It didn't work at all so went back to what we had.

    Any Idea's?

(drivers we tried)Hp Laserjet 5si and HP LaserJet 5si mx...Should I try a couple of the others?...OK I blabbed my head..

Check the print processor settings in the advanced tab of the printer properties. This should be set to Winprint, and not anything else.

It sounds as though the storm (power outage) had reset the printer to default settings. Unfortunately, without the LCD working, it will be impossible to give it a new static IP address.

As far as the printer being slow, it sounds as though the print job is being held in que somewhere - or the internal memory of the printer took a "hit" in the storm, and can only "handle" spooling one page at a time.
