Thanks again, Ron. I did the amateur thing and changed several things at once, including adding an ad blocker and going into Control Panel settings and anything else I could find. So I cannot say which worked, I'm just glad something did.

How can I stop businesses from posting ads on my fb account/

Help Center
How do I turn my campaigns, ad sets or ads on or off? You can turn your campaigns, ad sets and ads on or off from your Ads Manager. If you turn off a campaign, it'll also stop all ads and ad sets in the campaign.
To turn your campaigns, ad sets or ads on or off:
  1. Go to your Ads Manager
  2. Choose whether you'd like to turn a campaign, ad set or ad on or off
  3. Find the specific campaign, ad set or ad you'd like to turn off
  4. In the Status column next to the campaign, ad set or ad, use to change the status to on or off
Keep in mind that when the status is blue the ad is on and when the status is gray the ad is off.
To turn your ads back on, you may need to turn on the ad set and campaign too. Learn more about the campaign structure.

How do i get rid of ads on my facebook

Facebook does not currently charge its users a subscription fee. It does, however, feature advertisements that appear in the margins of your wall and other pages within Facebook. As of May, 2011, there is no way to turn these ads completely off, but you can remove them individually from view and alert Facebook if you find the ads to be inappropriate or offensive. Then those particular ads will not reappear on your wall.

Sign in to your Facebook account. Hover your mouse over the top-right corner of the ad you want to remove, and click the X that appears. Select one of the options that appears under the text reading "You have removed this ad. Why didn\'t you like it?" Choose either "Uninteresting," "Misleading," "Sexually explicit," "Against my views," "Offensive," "Repetitive," or "Other." If you select "Other," type your explanation for wanting to remove the ad in the space provided, and click "OK."

How can i stop adverts popping up at the side of face book its so annoying

Facebook's revenues come from selling ads. Other than certain web browser addons, there's no way to remove the ads from Facebook's pages. But If you have Active X or download it and click to protected mode it will stop the adds from popping up, but will keep the regular side adds. the pop up will come on the first time you log in but if you click the little Lock emblem on the bottom right it will engage and stop pop ups, which are running on a spyware software.
Hope this helps.
