Hi there, I have a Maytag MFD2561HES French Door Refrigerator, with bottom freezer that I purchased about 3 years ago.
The Ice Maker (model # 12685007) all of sudden quit working a few days ago. I am still able to get chilled water out of the water dispenser on the left side wall of the refrigerator.
The freezer temp is set at -1 degrees Faherenheit. It has always been set at that temp since we got the refrigerator. I don't see any leaks in the freezer or on the outside of the fridge. I have not pulled the refrigerator to look at the back but no water leak is evident around or in front of it. What could possibly be wrong? We don't use a lot of ice so I would imagine the lever had been in the up position a lot of the time since we bought this unit. Could that have frozen the line into the ice maker because of the lack of water circulation? Would defrosting the unit solve anything?
If the problem was due to the inlet valve, wouldn't I quit getting chilled water thru the water dispenser? What about a leak? How urgently should I fix my issue or can I continue to do nothing eventhough the ice maker seems to have quit working? Or am I totally out to lunch? Please help me troubleshoot this issue.
I have had the same problem with different problems each time. The first time the stop lever came loose on one end. This resulted in the ice maker remaining in the off position but looked like iWhen I removed that it worked again. Hope this helps
Well first the icemaker valve and water despensor valve a separate so you might want to try but to change it out you have to change both valves cause they made together then also check and makes sure your tube is not froze up and if that aint it then change your icemaker now for a little tip the icemaker will not run as long as the freezer door is open
