Try getting a dvd recorder that connects to the video and audio ports and record to that. Im not 100% sure but I believe it records whatever it sees on the tv screen

How to transfer from dvr to dvd recorder?

A DVD recorder, not connected to a computer, only can record movies.
If you have a DVD reorder connected to your PC, you need software, like NERO, to be able to write all the different codes needed to make a DVD a playable one for movie, audio or just files. (Data)

Can't record anything....dvr won't recognize blank

Not sure, but could be as simple as switching to a dvd-rw disc. Not all recorders recognize all formats.

Motorola VIP1216 DVR and Sony VRD-MC5 Connections for Recording?

I have the same problem currently. I have successfully recorded to the Sony CM5 in the past from my DVR, but no longer can. I have Comcast and wonder if they have changed the DVR firmware and blocked output. Also some broadcasts have something in the signal to stop recording. I got half of my program done, and can't record the rest on DVD. I will try to DVR local news, then record to the Sony, to see if it's a signal issue or something with the Sony. I haven't tried to record from a VCR.

Recorded dvd's won't play in another dvr

The problem is not the dvds themselfs it is the other play that you are trying to play them in (some players do not play DVD- and DVD+ or any other of self recorded disks) Look on the players box to see all what types of disks it can play!

No Disc

I had this identical problem just after a year and a half of use. I tried cleaning the lens... that didn't change anything. I tried using movie discs that I knew had worked before.... same problem. I took the unit apart and found the problem. There 5 or 6 (I forgot exactly) capacitors on the power board that are black cylinder types with silver tops. If the tops look like they are bulging, then It requires changing capacitors on the power board. I ordered them through the internet, removed the old and installed the new capacitors. Now everything works great.

The capacitors are: 10v 2200uf 105-Degree Capacitors. They cost about 20 cents a piece.

Good luck.

Can't record from my digital cable tv to my sylvania dvd/vcr ..........

Depending on the unit your going to need to check the back of the DVR for video out ports... My DVR has VID/HDMI/VCR/1394/SaTa and IR ports I use the VCR out to record with... because on my DVR I can say "Play this movie... now record to VCR and it will only play the movie on those VCR ports not on my TV so all I gotta do is hit record on my VCR... As long as you have audio/video jacks on the VCR. Then even some have it blocked so you can't do that... depends on model. So try recording on the VCR using the video ports instead of the COAX cable.

CyberHome DVR 1600

Googling the model number produces thousands of hits, so I can't imagine why you didn't find anything.

In any case, most of the problems with this unit are heat-related, due to underated components on the power supply board, and lack of heatsinking.

Keep googling and you'll find your answer.  There's even a detailed photo guide to replacing the caps, but it should have included the heatsink modification, as well.
