I would like to know what method you used to reinstall drivers. Device Manager? Hardly ever works. Windoze lost the address to the drivers in the first place. Download AND install the drivers from HP Support, works the best. Post back in a Comment, ibwood77

I downloaded it then installed,Could I be missing other needed devices or drivers? When I opened the volume control to playback devices I only have 3 things listed, where as before I thought I had 4. I have the following:

  • Anonymous Oct 07, 2012

    1. ATI HMDI Output

  • Anonymous Oct 07, 2012

    2. Speakers and Headphones 3.Independent headphones

  • Anonymous Oct 07, 2012

ALSO.. In the volume mixer I only have 2 items where before I had 4. 1. Device: Speakers and Headphones 2. Applications: sound systems. Thay are both turned up-not muted. In the device manager, I've aslo checked all sound drivers are "started & automatic"

Click start right click on computer select properties then device manager scroll to sound and video game controllers if you see a yellow question/exclamation mark or a red X the driver will need to update drivers

click start right click on computer select properties then device manager scroll to sound and video if you right click on sound and video then on high definition audio device select update driver software

click start control panel hardware and sound manage audio devices right click on your speaker select configure speakers

right click on the speaker icon in the bottom taskbar you will see an array of options select

playback devices make sure it has a green tick and the correct speakers are selected

be updated if you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it although

once speakers are connected widows 7 should automatically update the drivers

click start control panel hardware and sound manage audio devices playback you might have to set a default go for via high definition audio then right click on speaker

you might have to configure them then select properties you will see tabs general level in this tab make sure your settings are loud enough also enhancements and advanced from the drop down

I have no sound on my hp pavilion entertainment pc laptop. No sound, but a click each time I mute or unmute. i have re-installed drivers. All checks out -- except no sound.

you have to check the audio controllers from control panel too,, and make sure,, you are well connected to external speakers,, if you have,, or else first make an check with headphones for sound checking,, then you can analyse if it works,, then there internal speakers problem.
