I have two different Rio Sport models. I have an SE510 and a 256 with an external memory card. The problem is that the software for the 256 overides the software for the 510 and wont let music manager recognize it. I have found a way to load it by drag and droppin outside of music manager but in comparison it is a pain in the butt. Thank you for any help you might be able to give.

you are suffering from the Digital licensing information encryption from the majors, which ITunes will NOT agree to. That's how the music industry is making it's muscle show, with this sort of tawdry nonsense. I don't believe there's a s/w upgrade on this, unfortunately. There is a slight possibility that your software might have an interpreter, yet your Rio being that old, not for certain.
There is a possibility that the format may be different then the MP3 Player. You may need to connect the MP3 directly to the computer in order to transfer the files.
the socket where card is installed may have internal loose element so its not detecting.check out the card in another device and also check another card in your device.this will confirm the fault.
not sure but when i plug in mine, it also shows another USB drive labeled as if it also were linked to the Rio player when it is most certainly not. ...maybe a manufacture or firmware error?
Press the MENU and turn it on, as soon as the word RIO shows on the
screen release the power button but do not release the MENU
button until it says upgrading Plug the USB cord to it and install Rio Forge Firmware_120 Turn the mp3 off then on normally Put the music back on your mp3 and it SHOULD be fixed. but your music will be gone..

1. SANSA Internal and
2. SANSA 2GB (assuming your SD card is 2gb).
Load songs into each playlist.
Edit the sync properties for each drive to only sycn to those playlists.
