I also had to copy the working folders from my other daughters I-river PMP-140 which fixed the problem. As I found the existing files were corrupt and could not be opened or deleted the only drawback is you are using extra memory

I posted a copy of working folders for a pmp-140 which I purchased on ebay. The usendit link should work for a week (posted on 3/19/08). The folders worked when I copied them from the working unit I bought on ebay to the boot failure unit.
Hope this helps

I tried several downloads of system folders and fixes suggested on mystic river forum even having a local computer shop reformat my iriver using Windows 95 as instructed by the user's manual. None of the fixes I found on forums worked. I finally was able to fix my boot failure by buying a working pmp-140 on ebay for $120 and transferring the working folders onto my defective pmp-140. It was fixed in seconds. If anyone needs a copy of system folders I would be happy to post them to a site like yousendit. My email is [email protected] put fix Iriver in the subject line.

boot failure firmware 1.24
i hav the same problem please help
I've formated my pmp-140 to NTFS by accident and got the Boot failure screen, my firmware is 2.04. I tried to fix the problem with Partition Magic and formating it to FAT32, after doing so, it died completely; still shows boot failure message but now it wont even respond to USB connection, so it just stays at the boot failure screen. I am desperate for help, any help would be great, if someone can fix it for me, I am willing to give them some money for it. Thank you. My email is [email protected]
