Can't get started

The directions seem simple, but when I start recording, the camera appears to be recording for about 22 seconds and then I get a rotating hourglass symbol which does not appear anywhere in the manual. It then turns the recording symbol on and off, the hour glass appears and disappears all on its own and it will not allow me to turn the camera off or use any of the controls regardless of whether the hour glass is on the screen or not. This is my second camera. The problem started when I tried to format the memory card in the first camera. As soon as I pressed "yes" to format the card the camera left the set up mode by itself. I am using the same card in the new camera. I did not try to format it because as soon as I turned the camera on, it said the card was full. So I followed the directions to delete files, but it said there was no file to delete. The camera is pretty. Why won't it work? Linda Lee

Could it be that the SD card is not fast enough? I think that SD 40x or SDHC class 6 is needed from my experience (I am not sure what it says in the manual). What speed/class is the card you are using? I get these sort of problems intermittently on my HD2 (the predcessor to the HD1000) when I use a slower card.

Sony HDR XR550 has developed a problem

Taken from page 22 usa manual

Notes
If you close the LCD screen while recording movies, the camcorder stops recording.
The maximum continuous recordable time of movies is about 13 hours.
When a movie file exceeds 2 GB, the next movie file is created automatically.
It will take several seconds until you can start recording after you turn on the camcorder. You cannot
operate your camcorder during this time.

How do I get to the video mode to record?

I'm guessing its an Exilim EX-Z75

To record movies:
In REC mode, press the <BS> button (bottom right on back of camera)
Use the directions navigators to select the little camera icon on the menu. Press enter to select.
Press shutter button to start recording (A little REC symbol should come up in the monitor)
Press shutter again to stop recording when finished.
Give it a couple of seconds to recover between recordings (i.e. write the files).

Here's the manual - Page 82.

Broken video management file/ recording failure

Although the instructions don’t make it clear, it seems to be important that the camera is turned off before you connect or disconnect the USB cable. The instructions do mention that you should not delete or rename files on the camera except in the EXT_MOV folder. The camera’s firmware is apparently quite fragile about file names and the presence of the extra hidden folders that both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems create when you delete something.

Can't turn on my camera!

Hi..

I have a link and some information I found on the video option to your camera. This link is for the manual located on hp.com:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?product=371583&lang=en&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&

The following is how to stop video:
To stop recording video, press and release the Video
button again; otherwise, the video will continue recording
until the camera runs out of memory.

NOTE
If you have set the camera to Self-Timer or Self-Timer -
2 Shots (see Using the Self-Timer Settings on page 44),
the camera will start recording 10 seconds after you press
the Video button. However, with the Self-Timer - 2 Shots
setting, the camera only records one video clip.

After recording has stopped, the first frame of the video clip
appears on the Image Display. While it is processing, you can
delete the video clip by pressing the Menu/OK button

Good luck and please let me know if there is anything else i can hep you with--feedback would be geat.. thanks, d

Ugh...another problem

First clean the drum, use a soft head cleaning tape, that might not fix it though it seems like one of the posts is off if the cleaning tape doesnt work then it needs a simple alignment.
