White smoke coming form exhaust

Does the squeal change when you rev the engine? That would usually suggest the alternator drive belt is loose or old.
Are you sure the smoke is white? The colour gives a good clue to the problem.
If oil was getting into the engine the exhaust smoke would have a blue tint to it. White smoke suggests coolant is getting into the cylinders. With the engine Off check the coolant reservoir for oil on the surface layer. Also check the oil filler hole. Is there a "mayonnaise" like substance there. These signs suggest there is a problem with the head gasket.

The white smoke indicates cooling system fluid getting into the combustion chamber. Pull the spark plugs and if water or antifreeze comes out of any of the spark plug holes you have a cracked head, head gasket bad, or the block is cracked

White smoke is condensation from a buildup of water from within the exhaust system - if it was blue smoke then it is burning oil ... let car sit for a few minutes and take the dipstick out - wipe it clean - then re-insert dipstick - take it back out and check level against gauge at bottom of dipstick if you think you may have overfilled the oil

The white smoke points to the oil and fouled spark plugs.
Make sure the oil level is according to the gauge.

White smoke is an indication of water in the engine. Like when you see a car with white smoke from the exhaust on a cold morning, it's heat moisture condensate in the exhaust (normal), and is being heated and converted to steam as the engine blows hot exhaust out. To test if it's water in the engine, there are two likely indications, (1) the motor oil will be milky and white, or (2) you can remove the spark plug and see if any cylinder sprays water mist when the engine is turned over. In either case the problem is a bad gasket, maybe head gasket (repairable), or a cracked block (big $$$ fix). If engine will not turn over, there could be two causes (assuming the battery and starting system is good); (1) a cylinder is full of water and hydraulically locked keeping the engine from turning over (removing spark plugs should relieve the pressure and allow you to turn the engine over (* you'll see mist or water coming out spark plug holes), or (2) the engine is seized, therefore the previous troubleshooting is unnecessary, engine replacement is necessary. Best of luck resolving this problem.

Sounds like either a blown motor (rings need replaced) or a bad head gasket or cracked head.
If the rings are bad your car would have felt like it was losing power because the engine will no longer have the same high compression that it's required to turn the wheels. You may have heard your engine knocking or seen a light blue colored smoke coming from your exhaust as a result of your engine burning up oil in the combustion chamber from the rings leaking.
If your head gasket is leaking or your head is cracked you'd likely find milky looking oil when you drain your oil from water/antifreeze being mixed in and noticed a white smoke coming from your exhaust that is actually water vapor coming through the exhaust.
If your car was running rough when you last shut it off try pulling all of your spark plugs and either cleaning them or replacing them all. A bad head gasket or bad rings can both foul spark plugs. A car will run rough with 1 or 2 fouled plugs, but once enough foul it will no longer run at all just sit and crank over. If changing the plugs get's it started for ya, check your tailpipe first for water, if nothing, change your oil. If no signs of water/antifreeze or milky colored oil then it's probably rings.

with 15 years experince as a mechanic it sounds to me that you have a blown head gasket that would result in antifreeze leaking into the oil system. which will cause what they call the choclate milkshake. the funny exhaust smell and white colored smoke is caused from the head gasket leaking coolant into the combustion chamber and when coolant gets into the combustion chamber it burns the coolant and forms a white smoke out of the exhaust that will have a sweet smell. replacing the head gasket and having the cylinder head checked at a machine shop will solve your problem. if you remove the spark plugs one at a time you will probally find one that is wet with a unusual color or may even find two spark plugs that way indicating head gasket blown between two cylinders which is most likely your problem. if not fixed soon driving will cause crankshaft bearing damage which results in engine lock up or crankshaft parts like a piston rod to start to knock or fly apart ruining your engine. i hope this helps you

White smoke could be as simple as condensation in exhaust from sitting overnight. I'd be more concerned if white smoke continued when warmed up. The "miss" could be a bunch of things... When was last "healthy" tune up? Plugs, wires, ALL filters including fuel filter? I would start there, makes a good "ground zero" reference point and see if miss is still evident. You might also consider running a good fuel system cleaner w/next tank full of gas. Especially in winter months when temps fluctuate, condensation forms in tank. (water) Spark plugs & water don't get along well.

Does this happen after about an hour of running? This time of year condensation easily forms in exhaust and gives the "white smoke" look. If you have access to a large garage that you can get it into - see if it's still smoking. DON'T do it long as exhaust fumes can kill you (I had to include that) Keep an close eye on temp gauge and coolant levels. I suspect it's just condensation.

black smoke is fuel white smoke is oil. change your spark plugs to a hotter plug and run with some hpr 50 engine oil or somrthing nice and thick
