Please help me quiet this squeaking noise while printing? WD40 anywhere????

My Brother HL-5240 printer constantly has the paper light on even though there is paper loaded

You probably printed a document that was forced to the manual feed. Place some paper there and it should print. Go to your printer preferences and set the default tray to tray1 instead of Auto.

HL 5240 we are using via a parallel cable as usb is not an option, but when I print 2 copies it takes 10 secs before it will print the first one, then proceeds to go quiet and then takes another 10 secs...

PRINT LABELS

You will need to use the manual feed slot which is above the paper tray.

The manual feed is meant for labels and envelopes

Strong Noise on Brother HL-5240

Make sure the end tab in the paper tray is not too tight. The tab where you set the paper length. The paper should have about 1/16 inch space and not hold the paper too tight.
