Frigidaire fridge door makes a loud popping sound

We have a side by side door frigidaire refrigerator that is less than 3 yrs old. The door, to the fridge only, makes a loud popping sound each time we open and close it. The freeezer door does not do this. The sound comes from the bottom hinge of the door. I needed some help on how I even begin to get this issue resolved.

I have the same problem. I also took everything off the door to see if it had something to do with weight & nothing changed. It is a very annoying popping sound from the fridge side only!

We have exactly the same problem - the fridge is now 6 years old and it is driving me nuts!

You need to take the door off the hinges and remove the lower hinge plate from the bottom of the door. This is where I found my popping problem. The black bushing with the 3 bumps and dips on it is loose in the plate going into the door. I took black eletrical tape and rapped it around the part that goes into the plate to tighten the bushing up so it wouldn't turn anymore. ( This was a temp fix to see if the popping would go away) 3 Weeks later and still working. If the sound comes back I will put some double sided sticky back foam on it. Both doors were doing this on my fridge, and now its as quite as a mouse. I hope this fix works for you.

I had this similar problem with our side by side it is 3 yrs old.
1. Take off the offending door the bushing at the bottom is the problem. It is the black bumpy thing.
2. Unscrew the plate. Take it off clean off the bushing and place it back in the plate. Remember to put it back in the same way you took it out.
3. Take some gorilla gule. or similar strong adhesive. Apply VERY SMALL amount to bottom of bushing and around sides.
4. Replace to door, and put back on Frig.

Frigidaire Side by Side Refrigerator. How to stop the loud humming noise coming from it please?

Question edited for clarity.

It sounds like the compressor is struggling / overheating / failing. When was the last time your stripped the back out and removed all the fluff and debris? It overworks the compressor and gets red hot when the condenser coils get blocked. The struggling compressor causes the humming. Turn it off, keep the doors closed and vacuum it all out. Clean underneath and you might as well clean the floor and walls around it as the plan is to leave it disconnected for 1 to 2 hours to cool down and settle the refrigerant gas/liquid. Some other ideas below.

The evaporator fan motor circulates air over the coils to help keep things cool inside your fridge. If this motor starts to go bad, it will make a buzzing sound as it struggles to circulate air. You'll need to replace the evaporator fan motor to fix this problem.

Frigidaire side by side freezer - LOUD noise...

It sounds like the evaporator fan is hitting ice that is built up on the evaporator coil. When it's making the noise, open the freezer door and see if it stops.
(Most models are wired so that the evaporator fan cuts off when the freezer door is open.)
Check the inside back, lower panel of the freezer for ice built up or frost on it. If there is, you have a defrost problem that is most likley a bad heater. It's located around the coil inside the freezer behind the panel you will be looking at. The defrost problem would explain the freezer not freezing ice cream.

A three loud consecutive popping sounds at various

You probably have a bad compressor. It's internal parts are held up with 4 springs and one of them has probably broken and causes the compressor piston to hit the side of the comp. housing. This will happen when the ref. shuts off. To be sure, if you turn the ref off at the controls then you should hear the noise in the back. If it is less than 5 years old you can get it replaced under warranty. if more than 5 years old it will just be noisy. it will most likely last several more years like it is. Let me know if I'm right.
