I saw an answer for this problem on a justanswer.com blog, and although it's for a slightly different model than yours, it's the exact same problem and they mention what to try to fix it:

This was my initial thought...that the display isn't receiving information and going into the error code, which would be because of a loose ribbon connector, which carries the signals needed for operation. When you take it apart, be careful not to touch the high voltage capacitors- you can discharge them with a screwdriver blade by shorting them out, or cover them with electrical tape, temporarily.
Here's a web page that talks about how to check various microwave parts, and may be of help to identify the capacitor:

Good luck, and hope this helps you get it fixed.
SOURCE: The touch pad is freeze, only shows 8888.
try gliding your fingers over the touch pad to see if any other buttons work , #8 is stuck, or shorted
SOURCE: Microwave Sharp carousel Model R3A36 keypad not working
Your keypad has failed.
It would need a new control panel frame, which comes with the keypad.
You simply remove the circuit board and plug it into the new frame.
It is part # FPNLCB070WRK0 and the best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.

Ther are 2 long screws at the top on the left and right side in the cabinet.Remove them carefully it is heavy and will drop hard if you do not hold it while you remove them.If it does not come off then there maybe a release handle on the top left part of the vent you must look carfully hope that helped:)
