My parents have a Westell 7500 modem router wired in on their computer. They have a new computer that I installed a Linksys compact wireless-G USb network adapter. The new computer says there is no network available though. What step am I missing? When I installed the Linksys, nothing ever showed up.

You have to enable wireless in the router itself. Open this in browser and set up wireless 1. Open a web browser and go to http://192.168.1.1 or http://10.0.0.1. see url above for details

SOURCE: remote pc cannot access wireless

You can do a reset on your router. All computers must be must be getting its connection from your router. Your wired computer must be getting an ip address from the router(example is 192.168.1.x). You can then access the router page using your browser by typing the default gateway(example 192.168.x.1). This will take you to the router configuration page. You can set up the wireless network and your wireless network can now support more than 2 wireless computers.

SOURCE: Linksys wireless adapter and linksys wrt54g2 router not seeing each other

its possible that the wireless card does not have the correct wireless settings.

Open the linksys wireless monitor on your wife's laptop.
Go to the profiles tab, highlight the default SSID then click on edit at the bottom. It will search for the wireless network, from the list of networks that it will show you, click the name of your wireless network, in if the network is secured you will be ask to put in your network key. Then click connect. Then it will say that you profile was successfully configured. then click connect to network. It will take you back back to the screen where you saw no association to the access point, check if you will now get a new message. On that same screen click the more info button at the upper left hand side. Check the IP address it should be 192.168.1.x. If you have that IP then you can test if you will be albe to get online.

if you still have any problem just reply to this post.

SOURCE: Belkin router not giving signal to linksys adapter HELP!!!!!

I dont think belkin has a stable driver for win.7 at this time. I have a belkin n router with a belkin adapter and had no luck.
Some people have had some success using a Vista driver.
You could go to www.bioticaindia.com and download a win 7 driver there. They show a 48% success rate.

SOURCE: Arris Model: TM602G S/N: TM02AH1G6 Modem is not

Hi ltuttle650,

If your modem is not communicating with your Linksys router, your Arris modem was most likely installed directly to a PC or Mac when either you or a technician installed it. As soon as it connected it registered your MAC address from your NIC. You need to make your sure that the modem is still talking to the PC or Mac. Please try the steps below.

1. Find out what your NIC's MAC is (go to "Start", "run", "CMD", "ipconfig/all")

2. Copy down your NIC's "Physical Address." That is the MAC.

3. Go into your router's web based utility (Linksys is 192.168.1.1, username:none ; pw: admin) and click on the "Advanced" tab.

4. Then click on the "MAC Address Clone" tab.

5. Type in the number that you copied down. Click "Apply."

6. Now power cycle your Modem while it is disconnected from your computer and router. Power Cycle the router. After everything has rebooted connect the router to the modem and you should be good to go!

In most cases, this should work, and you ought to have internet access now.

If this did not work, the following is a quick fix:
1. Go to the 'Applications & Gaming' tab
2. Click the sub-heading 'DMZ'
3. Click 'Enable'.
4. Click 'Save settings'.
5. Wait for the settings to save, and click 'Continue'.

If this doesn't work, I would recommend calling your cable ISP and telling them that you need a modem that will work with more than one computer, or you need them to send a tech out who is able to set up the internet through a router.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Trying to install new wireless adapter on guest

Press the reset button on the router, and hold that like about 20 seconds.

That will return all factory settings.

Westell 7500 set up guide

modems are not routers. Routers can port forward. You need your WAN to face your ISP, and your LAN will need to face your router. Once you have your router talking to your ISP you can set it up to hand out interal network services, but I doubt SOHO routers will do port forwarding. Routers, however, can do port translation like passing gaming traffic over port 80 (web). You can do that in the security tab on your linksys.

Can't reconfigure my wi-fi wireless router with my computer

The manual is at:

http://www.pdfdocspace.com/docs/1343/westell-7500-manual.html
(a really stupid web page but I got the manual the first time).

The reset button is on the back between the power supply and the ethernet connectors. You press this and follow the prompts on-screen. You'll have to read the manual intro to see how to connect to the screens.

I need to increase the range of my wifi signal to cover my small motel. I have a westell 7500, what router would I need to purchase to add to thisto make the signal reach further? I called Verizon and...

Verizon can only support from the telephone-pole across the telephone-wire to your DSL-modem; any "customer-provided-equipment" is not their problem.

LINKSYS (now CISCO) is the "market-leader" in the wireless-router business. Look at their "Wireless N" routers, and look for "extended range". It should be well under $100.

Do i need a wireless router if i have westell 6100f

Yes. The Westell 6100f is not a wireless modem, therefore, you will need to get a wireless router to connect wireless computers.

Or if your ISP is Verizon and you want a wireless modem/router, you may contact them and replace the Westell 6100f with a Westell Versalink 327w, or Westell 7500, or an Actiontec.

Hope this helps!

DSL line disconnects on WRT54GS only

Try to change the LAN IP address of your router to 192.168.2.1 by accessing the router's Setup page. You also need to set your Westell modem to "full-bridge mode". You need to ask assistance from your ISP to bridge the modem. After that, set-up the Linksys router to PPPoE then power cycle it.

Need to redo wireless setup betw linksys & westell

You will need to assign a different ip address to the Westell modem - I am assuming that both the router & modem are using the same ip address 192.168.1.1? If that is the case, then assign 192.168.1.2 to the modem.

Connecting new Linksys WRT160n to existing modem Westell 7500

You have to call your internet provider and ask them to help you put the Westell modem in "Bridged ethernet" mode. This will by-pass the Westell modem and use your linksys as the wireless.

For AT&T:
