I am trying to set up an ethernet print server using the D-Link DP-301U. I followed the instructions in the quick installation guide and it did not work. Further when I tried to use the internet afterward, it did not work. My internet access returned when I changed the setting back to "Obtain IP address automatically" from the static IP of 192.168.0.52. I think the issue is my router (Netgear WGR614v10) does not recognize that IP or something but I am not sure. Is there some settings I need to adjust in my router?

Download and install <a href="http://www.wireshark.org/download.html">Wireshark</a>.
After installing, click the first button on the toolbar to list available capture devices. Select the interface you use to connect to your network (wired or wireless card) by clicking the "Start" button next to it.
Power off and back on the print server. Watch the log on Wireshark, and look for the D-Link identifier under the "Source" tab. In the same row, it will tell you the IP address the print server has assigned to it. You can then change your computer's IP to be in the same subnet (match the xxx's in the address xxx.xxx.xxx.yyy), allowing you to connect to it.

Your print server has to have its own IP address. If you have your computer as 198.168.1.1 then your print server would be 198.168.1.2.
You cant have the same IP address on any 2 items on your network.
