SOURCE: JVC receiver RX-6032 VSL is showing linear pcm,

Linear PCM is the way in which the sound is encoded in a CD, an uncompressed stereo format. It means that the audio setting is set on that system, not on Dolby Digital - what you would need to listen to 5.1 channels.
To get that back just press the INPUT DIGITAL button on the front panel repeatedly until the DOLBY DIGITAL label is displayed. If nothing happens when you do that or the signal isn't recognized as such then the defect is hardware - the audio decoder has failed and it will have to be replaced. This is a very big job that only a repair shop could do it - could, not surely can, because the replacement mainboard on which it's glued will be extremely hard to find, it's been out of production for a very long time now.

SOURCE: Can I connect my Magnavox

Think about this. Your TV is NOT the source of HiFi multichannel sound, but the source IT is watching might be. THAT is the best place to get the digital audio you want for the receiver. Run digital audio cables from he Cable Box, Sa, DV. BluRa, whatever to the JVC.

I also advise against running video THROUGH the receiver, opting for direct best conenctions from the source to the TV.

You SHOULD run at least a composite video cable from the receiver to the TV so you can use it to set up receiver things.

I have a Harman Kardon AVR 130 Receiver hooked up to our surround sound speakers in the house with a Samsung smart TV. Recently it only plays the volume if you listen to FM radio but cannot get the TV...

It sounds like a settings issue. Either on the receiver or TV or both. Check that they can pass Dolby signals. It probably won't work on PCM. Some receivers have the option for different sound on various settings. For example the one for TV could be switched off or on a different connection socket than the one you use. For example it might be on optical, or RF, or HDMI.

Hook mz506 surround sound to my Samsung tv

Typically surround sound is run through a receiver or stereo. The sound from the tv is carried to the receiver by cables (hdmi or Audio-Video connected to input area of receiver). Then the speakers are connected to the output area of the receiver.
If you are not using a receiver, then the speakers must be able to connect directly to the tv and you have to see what kind of cabling your tv supports.

Connect tv to surround sound system

Connect a RCA cable from the TV Audio output (red/white)
to the surround sound Audio Input (red White)

If your TV has a "HDMI OUT" and your Surround System has a
"HDMI Input" Then use a HDMI cable instead.
You will need to set the source on your Surround System to
the audio source you use on the surround system(input)
On most it will be TV or Auxiliary.

How do I connect Samsung smart TV to a Yamaha receiver and get sound to come out of surround sound speakers?

Generally you will connect the Digital audio or optical audio cable from TV to the input of Receiver. Then using the remote control of Receiver you will program the source for digital audio or optical audio as TV. I am assuming the speakers on the receiver are already connected and working. All you do is then turn on TV and turn on Receiver and select TV on Receiver. The TV audio will play through the receiver. Make sure the TV sound is in Mute.

Unable to get TV sound and dvd sound through the surround sound speakers with samsung compatible tv and blu ray player

Hi,Even though you have not mentioned about the cabling connections you have done, for the sake of correct connection I describe all the possible cabling alternatives to you..You can select whichever you want..

TO WATCH DVD ON THE TV:
** Receiver's "AUDIO and VIDEO OUTPUT as " 2xRCA Audio+1x Video " or "Optic Cable OUTPUT or " HDMI Output " of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary cables on your hand )
** AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio+ Video input s " as can either be : 3xRCA jacks or "Optic cable input " or HDMI IN connector of your TV ,
** than just switch to DVD mode on Receiver and play DVD
*
You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..

TO LISTEN YOUR TV ON SURROUND SYS.
** AT TV side : you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : 2xRCA jacks or "Optic cable output" or HDMI connector of your TV ,
** to Receiver's "TV input "or "AUX input" or "Optic Cable input"
or HDMI of your Home Theater Receiver (whichever you want ,based on the existing sockets and necessary
cables on your hand )
** than just switch to respective SOURCE mode on
Receiver corresponding the connector you have used on the back of Receiver ..
*
You can use "HDMI" connections as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..

Pls remember.."IN " goes to "OUT" or vice versa..all the times..

There you go..Both Tv and DVD sound are on the
Receiver as SURROUNDING SOUND .By this means ,whatever you watch on the TV will come thru your Receiver's SURROUNDING SOUND speakers as well .

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

Sound Problems with HD TV

This seems to be a problem that has to do with your HDMI audio output.
First check in your TV setting if audio out is selected on your correct HDMI port. Than check if your receiver is able to receive audio via HDMI (i assume you used the HDMI connection). Some receivers have HDMI IN connections but are not able to receive audio on it, the latest receivers/sets do have this feature. If your receiver doesnot support audio IN via HDMI you can only do one thing, connect the stereo audio-out of your TV to an AUX IN connection on your receiver.
