My washer started making a horrible rattling noise, like a loose/broken belt on your car, today during the end of the spin cycle. What could be causing it and how do I fix it?
Hello terilym - From what you have described it sounds like you possibly have foreign objects such as coins or safety pins in the tub or pump. I suggest unplugging the washer and carefully check the tub and to verify that the drum is also not damaged. If noise continues after washer is restarted, objects may be in the actual pump. Contact a professional to accurately diagnose and repair the unit.

Check the shocks on the bottom of the drum. I had the same problem and had to replace the shocks because they were broken in half.

This is a fault that resides within the motor control board. you will need to replace this failed module asap if possible. it has failed.

Usually this is due to either the drum support breaking or the back bearing being bad-neither easy to fix- or worth it. Try lifting the drum up and down, if it moves up and down they are bad. I see this a lot, and the price of repair isn't worth it. Craig

My hubby took it apart from the back, and the noise is definitely coming from INSIDE the drum, which he can't reach. Could something have broken in there? It sounds as if there is a broken piece just rattling around inside the drum!
Thanks! IT was an object in the pump, and we had a guy come out yesterday. He fished it out, luckily w/o having to open it up. Got it fixed for under $100! yay!
