  1. Clean Drive: commercial cd/dvd cleaner + air compressed can with narrow pipe inserted into device to reach lens.
  2. Update you sw from http://www.lightscribe.com/ (Control panel, diagnostic tool, application)
  3. be sure service is started: as Administrator go to Control panel/Administrative tools/Services
double-click on Lightscribe Service, and if it says disabled change it to automatic, then "start service" in the left panel. If is already started and set to automatic stop and restart it you don't have to reboot to see results.
It worked for me on HP6710b with internal drive and with liteon external burner

HOW DO I DOWN LOAD DRIVERS FOR A LIGHT SCRIBE DVD WRITE ABLE /CD RW DRIVE. MODEL # GSA-H3OL

Hi...

If your LG LightScribe drive will not need drivers to work as a 'normal' DVD drive as this function is Plug n' Play.

BTW - You have a great drive there... I have GSA E10L and a GSA E40L - Both fantastic drives...

However to use LightScribe you will need both:

1: LightScribe System Software
and
2: LightScribe Labeling Software.

You can download the System Software here:
http://lightscribesoftware.org/lightscribesystemsoftware/

And FREE LightScribe Labelng Software here:

Happy Scribing...

My hp 16x dvd r/rw dual layer ram lightscribe optical disk drive is no longer performing, what generic product will replace it? I can do without the lightscribe!

They are all as bad as each other... no seriously, any of the "Brand Names" will be a good bet. I like, Pioneer, NEC, ASUS, Mitsubishi, are all good. Don't go the Blu-ray quite yet.

The driver is not detected by laptop

Is your dvd drive capable of doing light scribe?: If not, then the driver won't make it work. It takes a special drive to use lightscribe, and it should be part of your CD/DVD burner software. I highly recommend Nero software as the best, more reliable and easiest to use. Also, it the brand that usually comes with New CD and DVD drives.

Recently purchased HP dv9600 fitted with pioneer dr-kd08hb cd/dvd burner. The HP also came with Lightscribe control panel installed, & the cd/dvd tray had the lightscribe logo, so i downloaded software...

You are correct in your finding on the drive, but understand too that all bezels for these drives interchange along with the drives themselves. There are only a few differences in the rives for all laptops. Mostly the differences are the rear mounting tab where the screw holds it from the bottom of the case, the front design bezel and the interface , the part that hooks into the motherboard. Other than that, one drive from one computer will fit another, All you have to do is change the rear mount and bezel and there you go. As long as the interface is the same....ide vs sata.

I can't print label to cd dvd from my dvd unit

Before you can use a lightscribe facility, you must have 3 things, which are, A DVD Drive thats has a lightscribe capability/function, a lightscribe software, and a lightscribe compatible CDDisk.
From what I can see, your drive is not capable, or does not support lightscribe functionality. I tried to check everything about your system model and I discovered that the capability of your DVD Drive is this :
  • Writable DVD formats: DVD-R (6x, DL [double layer]), DVD-RW (6x), DVD+R (DL [double layer]), DVD-RAM
  • CD formats: CD-R (24x), CD-RW (16x)
Which means your DVD Drive does not support Lightscribe facilities.
You can also check everything about your system from this link :

Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck!

then at that bottom read HP unstable.
From HP's official site, they started phasing out Lightscribe drives in HP computers in 2011, due to "industry conditions beyond our control."

Is it compatable with my desktop pc?

Ok. Well basically CD, DVD and Hard Drives are all cross compatible platforms so you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. If your asking me to choose I would say that you remove the CD writer instead. But before you do this make sure you have enough extra sockets in your motherbaord to plug in your Pioneer DVR-1910LS 20x DVD±RW IDE Drive w/LightScribe if your CD Writer uses IDE interface your inluck coz you can use it in place of the Pioneer DVR-1910LS 20x DVD±RW IDE Drive w/LightScribe, but if it isn't make sure you have a spare IDE socket in your motherboard. Simply remove the side panel use a flashlight and see if there are vacant IDE sockets, it's usually long in black, white or blue color. see the picture below.

If its vacant follow the steps on the link below simply copy and paste the link on you browsers address bar.
