My canon sd400 just emitted smoke fumes last week. i took out the battery and all and left it for a week. now when i try to use it the battery only lasts about 20 minutes or even less. can a battery emit smoke like that? should i just replace the battery?
You should send the camera with the battery for service to find out if there is a defect on any internal circuit boards, or if the fault is actually the battery. There is no reliable way for you to determine this yourself, unless you have the proper setup and training to service these cameras.

I brought my camera 6 years before and its only a few months I noticed a problem with my camera of emitting fumes while taking snap shots. What should I do ? Also its getting hot after the fume is emitted .
