I have a Kenmore Stackable washer/dryer 417 97962705 a year and a half old, one of the 2 bolt heads sheared off of the transmission shaft below the agitator causing the washer to spin eccentrically. I diagnosed the problem, replaced the bolt(S) and patched a thin spot in the tub where it had worn through due to it's spinning out of round (it was leaking water from this hole). When I got it all back together, I noticed it was also leaking from the seal on the transmission where it goes into the tub AND still making a knocking noise. It looks like (and sounds) like it's still spinning out of round. Could the transmission shaft be bent? Or could just the bad gasket component cause it to spin out of round and knock? Having pulled the machine apart down to the tub, I feel like I could now pull the tub, slip in a new ****** if needed, and replace the gasket, Is there anything more to it than that?
See this causes and fix it. God bless you
Try to identify roughly the area the leak is coming from. This will eleminate some of the following
Hose Connections
Check the rubber washers or replace if the hoses are leaking at the water inlet valve.
Door Seal
This is a common place for leaks. Carefully check by partially pulling
seal inside out and check for punctures, pens, pencils... Additionaly if
the door is not closing properly it may need a door adjustment. This
can easily be done by loosening the hinge bolts on the front panel,
adjusting and retighten. The seal is also known to get lightly snagged
by zippers or rub by heavy items when close are being removed. This
tends to cause the seal to get damaged at the six o'clock position. This
is sometimes hardly noticeable but if it is leaking from the bottom of
the door replace the door seal.
Water Inlet Valve
If the hose connections are good to the water inlet valve check that water is not leaking from the valve itself it is replace the water inlet valve.
Drain Pump
Check the drain pump housing and all hose connections. The drain pump is
behind the lower panel, behind the back panel, and sometimes removal of
the front panel. Hoses can be tightened. If hoses or pump housing is
leaking replace the pump assembly.
Outer Drum
The outer drum is 2 halves bolted together some washers have a seal
between others do not. If the washer is leaking between the seems
disassembly of the washer will be necessary. The top panel, console,
front panel, door seal, struts. Follow the video for the strut replacement and remove the top springs and the inner and outer drum will pull out the front.

Mine is doing the same thing. I opened it up to see what was happening and it was the drive belt tension arm bumping around. Soon, the belt started slipping during the spin cycle. Now it won't spin and the belt starts to smolder from the friction of the drive motor. If you haven't checked your belt, that's a good place to start.

its your basket drive or sometimes called brake spin tube also comes with new clutch, ,transmissions wouldn't make that noise in only beginning of spin. your on your way to being a repair tech good job
SOURCE: Kenmore Washing Machine won't agitate, spin, or drain
It sounds like the motor needs to be replaced, you can drain the water by taking the drain hose from the drain and lowering down water will drain.

SOURCE: Kenmore 90 tub spins excessively clockwise during wash cycle.
Improperly installed thrust bearing kit. Too many washers cause the basket to spin during agitation.
