Maytag Performance PTB1953GR making buzzing noise

My Maytag Performance fridge clicks on constantly with a buzzing noise. (freezer on top) It almost sounds like water is trying to make ice cubes...but the fridge does not have this option. This is just a basic fridge. The noise is very loud. HELP.

Upright General Electric Freezer made in 1986. WHAT is switch at bottom between orange and Red light for? It is buzzing

Please keep in mind here that this freezer is 35 years old and it will eventually reach a point where it will be easier to replace it.
All freezers and fridges click, rattle and buzz as they cycle through there job. You only really need to worry if the noise is louder, random or is constantly happening. Some older freezers have a 'Boost' switch where you can turn up the freeze rate if you have recently put a large amount of food into the freezer. Don't use this all of the time as it is expensive to use and can wear out the freezer parts faster. Try flipping this switch and leaving it for 5 minutes to see if the noise changes.
Has the freezer been moved recently? Sometimes if a fridge or freezer isn't level it will make extra noises.
Is the freezer still as cold as it normally is? The noise could be the evaporator fan starting to fail. Get a qualified technician look at it as he will be able to listen to it and give you better advice.

Mbf2256heb maytag fridge My fridge seems to cool properly, but it is making this nearly constant buzzing or grunting sound that stops when you open the freezer (bottom) drawer. Suggestions?

Hi,

Is you unit hooked up to water because if your unit has an ice maker and not hooked up to water currently, the ice maker will call for water about every 45 mins and cause this noise. To stop this action, lift the bail arm to the off position to avoid or stop this from occurring.
I hope this helps.

My maytag Wide by Side refrigerator started making this buzzing noise coming from the freezer section every few minutes and now it no longer cools.

It is possible that the door was not closed tighly, so the humidity built up in the duct line and the low temperature from the freezer make it turned into ice causing the clogging. The Buzzing noise turns on due to the sensorsomewhre along the disigne path. Unplug the fridge for a day and a half so the the ice in the duct line could melt down then when you turn on the sensor won't turn on the buzzing any more. Good luck.

Freezer and refrigerator not cooling. Makes a buzzing noise

hello sbarrry2 it sound like the motor that is running continously is the condenseer fan and the buzzing and then the click would be the compressor trying to start up and going off on overlaod. shut the unit off at the swiutch, let it cool down (3) hours possibly and then try to turn it back on. this should work. Thanks for using FixYA

Loud buzzing noise from compressor area and freezer not cold enough

I have a 1.5 year old GE refrigerator and freezer. This unit had not given me any problems until 2 days ago when I constantly heard a loud buzzing sound coming from the freezer. I called GE and Best Buy (bought it there) and asked to troubleshoot this over the phone. They suggested sending a technician over for $100 just for the visit + labor + parts which could add up to hundreds of dollars. So, I researched the web and blogs like this. The answer to my problem was simple. Something that I placed inside the freezer was blocking the air circulation vent. So, I turned off the whole refridgerator and I removed everything from my freezer. For good measure I dislodged some ice and frost that had developed over the vent. I carefully put back everything into the freezer, but this time being careful not to block the vent. I turned on the power and voila! No more buzzing sound!!! I hope this works for you too.
