I can get the adapter to pair, just can't get the sound to come out. it advance songs normally, just plays through the external speaker on the ipod touch only though. help?
I just bought the S9 with the D650 adopter with the same, very frustrating problem problem.
I contacted Motorola directly (1-800-331-6456), and after being redirected a couple times and asking a bunch of questions they told me the following:
Yes, there is a compatablility issue with the Ipod Touch and the D650. So no, we aren't all crazy. The new D650's now have a software upgrade to correct this problem. They were nice of enough to offer sending me a new one with no charge. The only thing I have to do is return my old one (and they took my credit card information to make sure I do return it.) They said it should be here within the week, so now I just gotta wait and see.
So my advice, give them a call and do the same.
Erik
I have the ipod touch and just bought the D650 and it works! Try turning off the ipod touch, put in the D650 and turn on your S9. Now if only I could get this to work on my iPhone.

exact same problem
We have the very same problem
Same here, except we have an older Ipod Touch that works fine with headset.
We can't get an updated Ipod Touch (with external speaker) to work with the headset.
What gives?
same problem
I have same problem with S9 HD. Pairs with Ipod Touch but will not shut off external speaker on Ipod or come through S9
I have the same problem w/ motorola D650 BT dongle & iPod Touch
* When connected to iPod Touch 2G, S9 pairs with with D650; right side headset buttons for advance, reverse, play & pause control iPod playback, but sound only comes from external speaker - all attempts to remedy by restart, reboot, and re-pairing have proved unsuccessful.
* Same S9/D650 pair works fine with iPod Nano 4G and iPod photo.
* I also have a Sony TMR-BR81P BT dongle. When paired with S9, it works fine with iPod Touch 2G, iPod Nano 4G, and iPod photo.
* Problem appears to be with the D650 BT dongle and the way it works with the iPod Touch 2G.
* Search of net revealed many users with same problem when using D650 and iPod Touch 2G. Did not see any fixes, although some users reported fixes for similar problems with iPhone. iPod Touch 1G users reported S9/D650 worked fine.
* Don't know if software update would fix this, but think that motorola (who advertises D650 works with any iPod with 30 pin dock), should work with Apple to develop SW update or other solution to resolve. User level efforts appear unsuccessful. Motorola, if you're listening, please pursue this or let us know that the problem can't be fixed, so folks can just go out and buy the Sony BT dongle for iPod instead, it does not suffer from the same probelms.

I am going with the sony TMR-BT8IP
Package said it works, manufacturer's website says it does not!
From Motorola's website: http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product...
1Motorola's D650 Bluetooth Adaptor for iPod is developed to work with the iPod Mini, iPod Nano and selected models of the iPod Classic. It is NOT compatible with selected ranges like the iPod Touch, iPod Shuffle and iPhone. For a complete list of compatible iPod models, please refer to your local Motorola dealer/ distributor for more information.Â
I just bought a D650 connected on my ipod classic and it could not pair to the sony SRS-BTV5 speaker. I try all the ways but still cannot pair them. Anyone has the same problem? Thx.
