My printer was fully operational but I recently did a mistake in its set-up through its web server interface: DHCP is disabled, AutoIP is disabled, Address source is set to manual and unfortunately, address was set to 0.0.0.0 ...I cannot access the printer any more through its network port. I can only use it through the USB port. I tried to use the arp -s command to force an IP address linked to the MAC address (that I can read by printing a status sheet) but I still receive no answer from the printer when pinging the related IP address...
I am running out of ideas...Can you help? Is there any way to get the printer back into a factory default state from a network standpoint? Thanks for any help you can provide
Please have a look if you have Dell 1700 series laser printer. Please follow the instruction bellow to reset printer to factory default: 1. Power Off the Printer from the back switch from the back 2. Open Front cover 3. Hold Down “Continue” & “Cancel” button while turning printer on

Return the printer settings to the factory default values by pressing and holding the Continue button. This should re-enable the DHCP so that it will get an IP address. To check, print a settings page by pressing the continue button for 2 to 3 seconds. On this page look for the IP address and to see if DHCP has been enabled. Once DHCP is enable and if you are still getting all 0's be certain that the ethernet cable is plugged in securely to the back of the printer and follow it to the router. If they are plugged in firmly and you are still not getting a valid IP address, try resetting your router. Turn it off, let it set for a minute, and then power it back up. Print another settings page. If you still are not getting a valid IP address, try using a different ethernet cord. Print another settings page, if you are still getting an invalid IP address, try a different port on your router. If at this point you are still not getting a valid IP address I would say that you have a problem with the ethernet connection on the printer. A valid IP address for a home or small business network is usually something similar to 192.168.xxx.xxx where the x's represents a number. If you are getting 169.xxx.xxx.xxx or 0.0.0.0, these would not be considered an invalid IP address.

Turn off the printer, Open the access cover on the printer, While holding down both the Continue and Cancel buttons turn the printer back on (lights will cycle a few times), after the error light turns on solid and stays on, release the Continue and Cancel buttons, Close the access cover.

I plugged the printer to the network and it received an invalid ip-address (169.xxx). But the suggested solution with the dell tool to set a manuell ip-address doesn't work. When I start the tool and enter the MAC-address (UAA) of the printer, the only thing I get is an error message: "IPSU: communication error with the network print server". What can I do?
