I need the software for my computer to access the videos on my jvc gr-dvi.505 video camera via firewire connection

You badly need CD, visit your nearest JVC Center, you can ask a copy of it, you might need the application software as well, it comes all together too large to send via email. Important Note, Connect first your cam and pc before installing the driver. Hope it helps

To save the video on a computer, a firewire connections must first be established from the JVC GR-DX307 AS to the appropriate firewire port of the laptop (assuming it has one or through a PCMCIA firewire adapter card if required). In the camera, the FireWire/DV port is located beneath the mode dial on the left side of the JVC GR-DX307’s body. To access the FireWire/DV port, the LCD monitor must be first opened.

Soon as that connection is established, you can use Windows Import Video (Vista) to capture / download the videos.

Alternately, the A / V port of the camera maybe used to connect to a DVD Recorder for direct, realtime copying & burning. For the disc to be playable in another machine, it must be finalized.

Install the Software which comes with the Camcorder, if u don't have one install atleast install the drivers from the JVC website...

You may need (if u don't have Original Disk from Camcorder) video editing ,capturing software (google for free versions ).

Once the software is installed , hook the usb cable to system and turn on the Camcorder..start the video software...follow the instructions...

I think you may need to connect the camera via Firewire, I've checked the specs of your camera and it seems to be minidv and has a firewire port. A lot of video editing software will not detect your camera unless it is connected via the firewire port. you need to check if your pc has one first of all you can do this by going to control panel/ network connections and see if there's an icon for 1394 Connection if there is then you have firewire, so you then need to see which type of socket it is on your pc and on your camera and purchase a suitable cable. Nope, that camera only has S-Video and composite video outputs. IEEE1394 is also known as firewire. Newer camcorders will connect via firewire. You will need a video capture card for your computer. Either an internal card or a USB version. Then you can record the video onto your computer.

how r u connecting ur camera to pc , u have laptop or desktop tell me the specs does it have firewire 1394 port or not

ur camera supports Web-Camera function via IEEE1394cable u need firewire port in laptop for connection usb wont work here pls get a firewire 400 cable and then connect ur camera and select web cam mode from menu and then try to connect in skype it will work

Could it be a bad cable or a bent/broken pin where the cable is connected to?

If it's a JVC GR-D72, then it's MiniDV. Connect the camcorder via firewire to your PC

I have a JVC gr-d270. the CD came along with it is useless. my computer cannot detect the video cam hrough USB. I have to transfer my videos to my computer. Can anybody help me with the driver atleast. Im using windowsXP sp 2.
