Upgrading media receiver on Pioneer PlasmaPDP-5030HD

I have the original media receiver which does not have HMDI inputs for connecting accessories (DVD, SAT, etc.,) to. Has pioneer upgraded the media receiver which now has HDMI inputs for multiple accessories and still is compatible to the 50" plasma screen?

Hello, I to had this problem, and my original media receiver finally died. I did however go to my local electronics store ( I'm not talking about the big box stores) And bought a $7.00 dvi to hdmi adapter. I simply unplugged the "system cables from the back of the media receiver and placed the adapter at the end of the DVI side of the cables, and plugged the now hdmi side into my hdmi splitter box and I am off and running! The only downfall is it does not carry sound only video. But this in not a problem for me as I have a surround sound system. This was a very inexpensive fix for me/ I hope this helps.

My hdmi is on my pioneer vsx 523

The HDMI inputs are on the back upper left of the unit. the 4 on the left are INPUTS (like you connect you DVD to port 1) then you need a 2nd HDMI cable from the white 5th port going OUT to your TV HMDI port.

Trying to connect a Plasma TV to this receiver which does not have HMDI

Hello,
What you need to do is connect the HDMI from your source(SAT, Cable box or DVD) directly to your tv. Then, connect audio from that same source down to your pioneer receiver.

My Pioneer 503pu/ 5030hd which comes with the 503u media receiver does not seem to want to display any picture. The green light on the TV stays solid and the Media Receiver light stays solid red so I know...

Wish I knew, have one exact same trouble. Have checked all supply voltages which are correct. It appears that the screen and media Rx are not passing data after turn on, there are no transitions on any of the SDA SCL lines, all are in a high state +5V. There are transitions on them at boot up. I am using a Kworld KW-SA295-Q DE box, has a DVI-I output that provides a great picture on the monitor / screen. I believe the PC/IF board has the problem, but have not found one to substitute to test.
Also the receiver is not set to any of the default conditions.
The tuners are active but are not tuned to channel 2 the ICs not controlled by the data buss all pass signals. My thinking is that the control software has been corrupted. I found the training guide on line that has part of the procedure for upgrading the AVC System software but it is incomplete. If anyone has the info please post or send via E mail shalopt2 at juno dot com
or a known good PC/IF board that I can use for additional testing. There is no OSD as it is provided by the media RX PC/IF board.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem.

Hope this helps and Good luck.
