The button is only to keep the shaft from turning while you loosen the collet (the nut) with the little wrench. THEN the tool comes out.

You may have to change mandrel to a smaller one. There should be 2,if not 3, in your kit. I ended up buying the 4486 keyless chuck to save time on tool changes.

I hope this helps. M

Which drill press is affordable and cheap?

I'm fast becoming a Dremel fan. I love that they offer so many products, attachments and accessories! This is useful as I can't hold the tool in my hand. I'm glad I purchased Dremel 220-01 Rotary Tool Workstation Drill Press, easy setup too and affordable.

98 honda civic dx thermostat housing bolts heads rounded off, can't extract because of lack of maneuvering room to pound on Irwin bolt extractors...now what?

Buy a couple of left hand drill bits & try them to drill out
the, shall we say mess

If your lucky the remaining threads will come out as you drill,
IF your able to drill perfectly in the center

Could also use a propane torch to heat ,then drill, will need
liquid wrench or something & may have a few small flair ups
with the fluid & torch

My bit in my drill is stuck into a large tree stump... that had been cut close to the ground. How can I get the bit unstuck? My dewalt drill is unable to drill in & drill out.

If it's a twist bit try putting a vice-grip pliers on the end and turn it so the fluting pushes the bit out. If it won't move or if it's a spade bit you'll have to split the wood around the bit. You may or may not be able to do this with the offending part of the stump in the ground. Using a wedge, drive it into the stump near but not next to the bit so you don't damage the bit. Don't drive the wedge flush into the stump or you may get the bit out and then have the wedge stuck. Worst case, carefully use a chainsaw to cut out the stump so you can split the wood around the bit.

I have drilled a 1 inch hole in my concrete basement wall. I cannot release the bit from the drill. The chuck won't turn by hand to release the bit.

Good Afternoon, Ladooudep55:

I hope you have got your bit back, but if not, remount the drill chuch onto the bit, and drill in forward without pushing the bit. If it still won't move, You can gently wobble the drill to enlarge the hole and retrieve the bit.

The other method is alternating light hammer taps with compressed air. It will make lots of grit dust.

If the hole around the bit is wet, you may have drilled into an iron pipe, if it smells it was the sewer drain. You will have to decide if you want to replace the pipe section or run an epoxy patch once you have retrieved the bit.

I bought a dremel 4000 on ebay and it didn't have a manual with it - I need basic instructions to use the drill bits I purchased that go with it. Is there an adaptor that I need to use them?

Your drill bits side, should have a twisting hand tightening head into which you insert the bits, and have fun. If this is missing, you can either buy it, at dremel stores, or get a nut of the same thread and get the job done.
