My machine will stop at certain points of the cycle until I turn the dial to skip that part of the cycle and on to the next part. Also the machine will not work on all numbers of the dial. It will only start on number 5
See this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is
often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.
f the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective.
This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door
switch and other components.
If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may
have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't
fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold
water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the
cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water -
the valve is not the problem.
If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked.
The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any
switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have
continuity according to their design.
If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be
defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can
fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches
with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity
according to their design.

the cycle timer is beginning to sieze because it needs oil. disassemble washer to the point where you can apply small drops of 30W machine oil to the timer's bearings

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Hi,
I had the same problem when i got my machine, if you slide out the powder and softener tray just behind the face of it on the right hand side you will see a white plastic tab about 2 inchs wide! That plastic tab slides out and has all the programme settings on it!

Thank you for verifying the model type so many folks post non FAV6800A/FAV9800A questions in this forum machine specific topic area.
FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
You will need the Service Manual for support. I’m an owner like you with a solid repair skills on the machine and will try to help you DIY the repair if we can ID the issue through troubleshooting.
Do you have this condition in all wash cycles? Will a Quick Wash cycle complete? Do you see the Cycle Status LED ever indicate the machine has moved to the Spin Cycle during the wash cycle? This could be a Control Board failure but we need to troubleshoot.
I want to make sure the Wash basket will spin up with a Spin Only cycle selection. Can you select a Spin Only cycle with a empty wash basket. I would release the washer top so you can observe this test. I want to rule out a broken Clutch large wrap spring.
Page 33 of the Service Manual will show you how to release the washer top from the base. In Spin Only cycle raise the top just enough to make sure the wash basket is rotating Counter Clock Wise – CCW with the Spin Only cycle selected and operated.
If the above test doesn’t indicate an issue I would like you to try the Quick Service Cycle test on page 15 of the Service Manual and see if your FAV6800A will pass that test with no clothes in the washer. When you put the machine in Service Mode press and hold simultaneously the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys until the machine beeps and the LED display reads 00. Then press Wash/Rinse Temp to start Quick Service Cycle test. Did the test complete with a PA indication in the display? It will only display the PA code for a few seconds. End of cycle will beep washer will unlock and Cycle Status LED will indicate complete.
Waiting for your reply….Rich

The 'Start' & 'Pause' LED's will flash together to indicate the
error code. You have to count the flashes within each 15 second period
to get that error code. The start and the pause LED's will flash
together at 1Hz (i.e 1 flash per second) within that 15 second time
frame, then will continue and show again within another 15secs and so
on.
1 Flash = Interlock fault
2 Flashes = Fill time-out
3 flashes = Drain time-out
4 flashes = Overfill fault presure pipe blocked
5 flashes = NTC error
6 flashes = faulty control board
7 flashes = Motor jammed
8 flashes = Tacho fault
9 flashes = Motor triac on module board
10 flashes = Prog Selector or wiring fault
