I had this problem. If you have the original Nikon charger, insert the battery and press the calibration button. I dont know how, but it charged the battery fully.

SOURCE: Canon Powershot A540 - Change Batteries when Batteries Fully Charged

Some of The Canon Powershot A530 and A540 cameras are subject to an advisory recall. Seems that a small spring on the battery compartment door can short out the batteries. Suspect this of yours, in that you mention that your batteries aren't lasting long. If your camera is on the list, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following link for more info:

SOURCE: Battery Fully Charged Camera Won't turn on

Hi

There are several things that could cause this.

1- Check the battery door indicator switch under the battery door and beside the memory card slot. Is the little black switch damaged or missing? Try pressing down gently using a pen it with the door open and then press the power button. Does it turn on?

2- The fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. Offhand I don't recall where it is on the SD600 PCB or how hard it is to solder on a new one (depends on if its tricky to get at or not). Good thing is fuses are really cheap.

3- Other power problem with the PCB due to corrosion or impact damage. The PCB or 'motherboard' of the camera will need to be replaced.

A couple solutions would be to either buy a defective camera online and make one good camera from the two if you can do that sort of thing yourself, or secondly have it repaired by somebody.

Don't bother trying to send the camera to Canon if it is out or warranty (though you can call them and verify what I'm about to say) because they will want $150+ to do the repair for you. Parts are not cheap to buy from them.

I know of one very affordable digital camera repair business... because I own it. The name is Darntoothysam, feel free to check us out, we are on that big auction website also (I don't plug their name for free), our seller ID is 'darntoothysam'. If you Google "darntoothysam" you will find us.

If we can help with your repair then please let us know.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

SOURCE: Canon Powershot A470 - asks to 'change battery'

This happened with my Canon Powershot A470. I sent it back to he manufacturer and they said I was using the wrong batteries. Even though the camera is supplied with two alkaline batteries, they recommend using AA NimH rechargable batteries.

SOURCE: no power - fully charged battery

How about cleaning the battery contacts in the camera first with a pencil eraser and then, with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

The red light on my mouse keeps on blinking

Here's a guide;

Dewalt battery charger won't charge

As you know, solid red on your charger means that the battery is fully charged and the BLINKING red light means the battery is charging. Unless the light is blinking irradically everything is working the way it is supposed to. If the light is blinking irradically, the battery may just be too hot or too cold to charge ( like when you are driving many lags and your battery dies) and in this case simply wait 15 minutes to charge. If you get a fast blinking light still, the problem probably is with the battery.

My Flea Taillight won't charge, I'm using a brand new "AA" battery, (hooked up - red to + and black wire to - ) I've reset the "light from demo mode (holding down the button for 20"...

Try cleaning the contacts with a cotton swab and som isopropyl alcohol.
Let those dry.
Use a paper clip, or other small pointy object to clear the area around the contact points on the light so the recharger can fully "snap" into place.
Attach a battery you know has a good charge.
Turn on the light.
Did the light turn on?
If so, great, turn it off, and if it is blinking, let it recharge.
If it didn't turn on, isn't blinking and won't hold a charge after this process, return it to Blackburn and enjoy the benefits of your lifetime warranty.

Rechargable Batteries Battery Charger

When batteries are placed into the charge mode, the red light will come on.
When fully charged, on those units with a green light, the green light will be an indication that your batteries are charged and if your unit has no green light, the fully charged indication will be when the red light turns iff.
