Can I program my remote (GE 24911) for my toshiba tv while powered off? Power button broken.

    I can't program it normally because the POWER button is BROKEN. The setup codes require the tv to be ON first.

Codes for remote control GE universal remote24911

Note: most remotes allow you to find the code by manually turning the TV (or other device) on first, then press the appropriate button (cable, DVD, surround, etc) then setting the the remote in the "program" mode, then keep pushing the "off/power" button until the TV (or other device) turns off, at that point the code is set.

Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

How do i put the code into the remote

MANUALLY ENTERING CODES
1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, DVD, etc.) you wish to
program.
2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH/SETUP button on the remote
until the INDICATOR LIGHT lights, then release.
3. Press and release the button for the device you are programming
(TV, VCR, DVD, etc.). For AUX, press AUX then the device button
you are assigning to AUX. The INDICATOR LIGHT will blink then
remain lit.
4. Enter the three or four digit code for your device using the number
buttons in the GE Universal Remote. After your code is entered the
INDICATOR LIGHT will turn off.
5. Aim the remote at the device (TV, VCR, DVD, etc.) and press the
POWER button. Your device should turn off.
Note: If your device does not respond to the first code listed,
repeat steps with the next code. If none of the codes listed for your
device work for your device or your brand is not listed, try the Code
Search method described below.
USING CODE SEARCH FUNCTION
If your TV, VCR, DVD, etc. does not respond after you have tried all the codes
for your brand or if your brand is not listed, try searching for your codes by
following the steps below.
1. Turn on the device you wish to program.
2. Press and hold CODE SEARCH/SETUP until the INDICATOR
LIGHT lights, then release.
3. Press and release the device button for the device you are
programming (TV, VCR, DVD, etc.). The INDICATOR LIGHT will
blink once then remain lit. For AUX, press AUX then the device
button you are assigning to AUX.
4. Press and release POWER until your device turns off. Wait at least
2 seconds between each time you press POWER. Important: You
may have to press POWER up to 250 times.
5. When your device turns off press the ENTER/SAVE button. The
INDICATOR LIGHT will go off.

I have a GE 24991 universal remote and a Samsung Tv. I need a list of tv codes so I can try to program it.

The codes that GE list for the Samsung are:
0105, 0077, 0076, 0109, 0007, 0009, 0004, 0005, 0085, 0172, 0942, 0358, 0012, 0015, 0080, 0104, 0106.

I have a toshiba tv with a broken power button

Generally the power button has to be on first to put the TV in standby mode. If you cant do this no remote can ever work. Remotes are not capable of turning on a set that has no power mechanically turned off. and that is what the master switch does. once that standby light is off it is not live and consuming power and not under the control of a remote anymore
