That's was a miraculous!!!!! My canon Image Class D860 is brand new now after following the steps.

1. Hit Additional Functions Key
2. Hit # key
3. Arrow to number 7, Printer and hit Set
4. Arrow to number 4, Printer Re-Set and hit Set.
5. Yes, re-set printer (hit minus key - back arrow).
6. Unplug the machine and plug it back in.

This just worked for me on a D860

If you've tried resetting from the menu without success, try this:

1. Unplug the unit and remove the print cartridge. Leave everything open.
2. Wait 10 minutes, then plug the copier back in - leave it open with the cartridge removed. The display will now tell you the copier is open. Re-insert the cartridge, close everything up and it should work fine.

Why this works? Maybe it involves replacing an E000 with a 'higher' error that the copier knows and then it resets itself. Honestly, I don't know. It was just a Hail Mary that happened to work.

E000 is a high temp. error. My first advice would be to atempt to clear it in service mode:

  1. Press ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS, #
  2. Go to #7 Printer and press OK
  3. Go to #4 Printer Reset and press OK
  4. Yes = ( * )
  5. Power cycle unit.
If this does not help, on most units you have to start looking at your Fixing Assy. or Thermistors. Make sure that you do not have a piece of paper wrapped around Upper Fixing Roller or and other foreign substance in that area. However, on this one, I would recomend replacing Fix Assy. as a whole if you can, FG6-8326-000 (for s/n starting with MQT/MQV/MRV/MRW) or FG6-8325-000 (for all other s/n). Don't see p/n for Thermistors. Also, heard of alot of other board and p/s issues with this model that can cause E001-E004 errors. See if you can clear it first. Good luck. Let me know how you make out.
