In order to remove and replace the airbags in your Hyundai Sonata you just have to follow these three following steps,
Step 1
Disconnect negative battery terminal. This is a must or you will trigger the airbag light on your dashboard.
Step 2
To remove the airbag from the steering wheel on Hyundai Sonata 2007, you will need to press three locking pins that hold the airbag in place. Use a Phillips screwdriver. A Torx screwdriver will work even better.
Step 3
Pull out the locking clips from the airbag connector. Then disconnect both wires from the airbag. You also need to disconnect the horn wire.
Hi Sandra, Have a diagnostic scan carried out on the vehicle. The usual problem is with the cassette unit mounted behind the steering wheel. Regards John
Has it ever been wrecked? Mine was and the shop that fixed it forgot to put the airbag sensor in the bumper...apparently this is needed to make the light go off...hope this helps.
No they can only check engine codes and by law they are not allowed to reset any ststems that have a malfunction. A airbag light will reset if the problem is corrected.
My airbag light stays on too. It could be a code you could just clear. The Sonata has several airbags. It could be a non working seat airbag, or even a thrown off senser (which is common in this car)! I dont think its worth 80 dollars to fix at the dealership. Go to auto parts store and get it checked.
You can try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes or so, then hooking it back up, but usually an airbag fault warning has to be actively reset with diagnostic software.
