Your iron has a poor contact in the temperature control.
I would suggest you take it to a fixer-upper place and have it checked.

If you don't mind mailing it to Canada, I could do it.

Check the Yellow Pages. There must be someone in your neghbourhood who still does such repairs.

my morphy richards steam genarator iron 42242 says it is hot enough but in fact sole plate is not and leaking water over garments.any ideas?email me [email protected]

Make sure that before you attempt to slide the water tank back that you operate the Tank Release Knob.

See the instructions for an illustration of your iron and the positioning of the Tank Release Knob.

Why is there No steam from morphy Richards 42247 model steam generator?
It may be calcified or have lime scale. If the heater is "gummed up", it cannot heat properly. Try using either vinegar (takes longer) or an iron cleaner. You pour it in and it breaks up the scale. CLR works quite well too. Use pipe cleaners to clear out the holes in the sole plate.

Use CLR the r stands for rust It will descale the iron for lime while it is there. It would be better to own a quality iron that uses stainless steel or other non ferrous metal.

Brown steam
Brown steam is normally associated with internal rust in the iron. descaling may help clean it up. To descale make a solution of 3 parts distilled water to one part white vinegar, about a teacup full and pour into the irons water reservoir. Switch the iron on and set it on to the highest steam setting. Place a clean tea towel or similar on the ironing board and steam-clean it with the iron for a few minutes. The vinegar/distilled water solution will break down and expel the limescale. Turn off the iron (unplug). Pour out the water and vinegar solution. Pour clean distilled water into the iron reservoir and steam-clean a new clean cloth for a few minutes. this will remove any risidual vinegar etc. Turn off and unplug the iron and pour out the remaining water.

There is not enough steam coming from the iron any more
YOU PROBABLY HAVE LIME BUILT UP IN YOUR IRON, TRY DESCALING LIKE YOU WOULD YOUR COFFEE MAKER.

My Morphy Richards Jetstream is about 5 or 6 years old & works fine except that when I first use the steam I get brown water marks on items. This means I have to wash them again. What can I do to solve...
Try cleaning the inside of the water holder it might just be calcium built up, use white vinegar to clear it and you'll prolly be fine. Put vinegar where you usually put the water and heat the iron up and steam the vinegar through the iron then put water, try distilled water to save this problem from happening again or try filtered water.

totally open your iron, your iron element or thermostat is dirty with dirsty paticles, clean with thinner & fix it
